It looks like the Pacers are leaning towards finding a replacement for Tinsley. Who do you think would be the most likely destination for him and why?

Whoever will take him because they'll take him.

And we'll probably just settle for some mix of shorter contracts, draft picks, or expiring contracts -- when the Coach pretty much says "I dosen't trust my starting PG", the GM says "the fans don't like this team", and the owner even states that change is coming, you can bet that anything that sounds close to fair anywhere will be taken for Tinsley....

Yeah, that's a pipe dream. We'll be the ones taking back equal or uglier contracts to move Tinsley. We're not going to find anyone who's going to put themselves in worse financial/cap position in the long term to take on Jamaal.

Every trade that Tinsley is going to be in is a long shot. However, like some media reports have mentioned, this is a somewhat weak market for PG's, and there's only a half dozen or so contracts that are worse years and dollars wise then Tinsley.

Knick fan here, what would you guys think about a straight-up Jamaal for Jared Jeffries swap?

Both have similar contracts though Jeffries is slightly cheaper. Tinsley is due 6.75m, 7.2, 7.5 over the next 3; Jeffries is due 6m, 6.5m, 7m over the next 3. So that is 2m savings overall.

You guys get rid of a headcase, and bring back a character guy with Hoosier roots. Knicks get help at the 1. Any interest?

The Knicks could be a possibility. I know Donnie is there but from what we seem to know it was Donnie and eventually Jim (though I think that was more about just making do) who wanted to keep Jamaal around and that Bird wanted him gone. The Knicks have Jeffries and James making a ton of $$$ for no production. They might give Jamaal a shot because without being in Indiana, I'm not sure if Tinsley's behavior is a big concern and then he gets a complete fresh start with a new coach that doesn't really care when a PG can't play a lick of defense.

Denver would probably like him but we'd probably have to take on Nene's contract which I'd hate. Unless we did something like Tinsley and Quis for Martin and #20. Normally I would say we could never get a draft pick for Tinsley BUT both KMart and Tins are about equally as injury prone, Martin has a much more expensive deal and we cut it in half for them after the first year with Quis exp. contract. So they'd save $1mil the first year and ultimately they'd save $18mil. Which ultimately explains why we probably shouldn't do that.

I think I might mainly because we need defense. But would Donnie/D'Antoni?

I would take that deal, then change my phone number and address to make sure that you couldn't have take backs.

Seriously, that deal would make a lot of sense for us, and wouldn't be particularly risky for the Knicks, but I don't know if Donnie would want to bring one of his mistakes over there.

I actually like Jeffries. I think he's overpaid and I wouldnt have great expectations for him, but basically I think JOB would say: Just go out there and guard their best perimeter player. That's it. I doubt Walsh is too anxious to bring Tinsley to New York, but they do need a facilitator and someone who isnt shoot first for D'Antoni's offense. I suspect D'Antoni wouldnt give him the perpetual green light like JOB did. That's really the type of deal I'd expect for Tinsley.

I think I might rather take on Jerome James instead of Jared Jeffries. Sure, James sucks, but he has one less year on his deal than Tinsley, and next year, in his expiring year, he'll at least turn into a serviceable player as he plays for a new contract. He's done it in the last year of his previous two contracts, and I have no doubt he'll do it again.

I'd do either. We need to get Tinsley out of here because I feel if he's still here with our franchise PG of the future (say an Augustin or Westbrook), it's going to create problems.

Jeffries is a solid role player, and I'm sure his name could bring a few fans back to the Pacers. He's a good defender, but he doesn't bring much offensively.

I'd be fine with Jerome James too. He can replace Harrison as our third string foul prone center for a season.

whatever happened to the possibility of tinsley to orlando for nelson. i loved that idea. then we could draft a big man with our pick this year instead of a pg.
