Shaq, Diaw, Tucker
for
Murphy, Foster, Tinsley, Daniels, 1st

Suns:
Nash/Tinsley/Strawberry
Bell/Barbosa/Strawberry
Hill/Daniels/15th (Alexander, Budinger, Greene or Batum)
Amare/Murphy
Foster/ 11th (Jordan or Speights)

- My fellow Suns fan will probably torch me for including Tinsley in the trade but he is better than Barbosa in terms of running offense. Risky move on the assumption that Suns training staff would be able to maintain Tinsley's health.
- This extends portion of Shaq's expiring contract to 2011 amounting to Tinsley's contract.

Indiana:
Diener/FA (Duhon)
Dunleavy/Rush/Tucker
Granger/Diaw/Williams
Jermaine/Diaw/Diogu
Shaq/Jermaine/FA (Diop or Kwame)

- Thats more than enough line-up for Shaq to be motivated. This is assuming Jermaine can stay healthy.
- Take out Tinsley's contract for Shaq's expiring in 2010.
- Shaq and Jermain is a 40 million expiring in 2010.

Surprisingly this was suggested by a suns fan. But as crazy as it is, I like it. I dont think Shaq would though. But what really made me take a second look was 40 million in cap space. HOLY****

JO is not a big fan of Obie's system. Shaq would demand a trade immediately. It would be fun though to come up with a new Shaq nickname though.

The Big Ear (as in corn)

Or, just, the The Big Cornhole...

Yeah, and it'd be pretty cool to see Shaq on the Indy Metro PD too, hey that'd be an interesting approach to keep the Pacers off the police blotter!!!

No way from the Pacers. This leaves us with Diener at PG and no pick to draft another one.

no problem. just sign an undrafted. like says Richards from Davidson.

I like Richards more than anyone here probably, as I live in NC and actually know Stephen Curry I followed Davidson a lot, but this is crazy. Jeff Foster is worst expirings and a 1st, your willing to trade 2 first round picks and expirings with 2 bad contracts(one of which is still useful) for friggen Shaq?

I'd take it if we didn't include our first...then we could turn a deal to get a pg like hinrich with the #11 (an idea im sure many pacer fans will hate..and i don't blame you)

I'm prett sure Shaq and JO hate each other, no?

On top of that fact it is a mind-blowingly terrible deal for the Pacers.

Let's look at salaries...

SHAQ 2yr / $40mil
DIAW 4yr / $36mil
TUCKER 1yr / ~$1mil
Grand total of $77mil coming in

MURPHY 3yr / $33mil
TINSLEY 3yr / $21.6mil
FOSTER&QUIS 1yr / $12.4mil
Grand total of $67mil coming in

So we take on $10mil extra dollars, give up a lotto pick AND risk paying hella big lux tax dollars if we want to re-sign Danny. While we'll have $40mil in expiring contracts with the O'Neals in 10-11, we add $10mil extra dollars in this deal for when we should lock-up Granger before he becomes an unrestricted FA. I know it would be great to have $40mil the year that LBJ, Wade, Bosh all are free agents but do any of them choose Indiana?

If we can then swing Shaq and JO in separated deals for LeBron and Kobe I'm in. Otherwise...no.

I would look on any move to clear capspace to be solely motivated by financial concerns. We would not fill it back up with big Free Agents.

More to the point...it wouldn't be $40 mil of capspace unless we traded it away for players. If we just let it expire, then we would only have the free space under the cap to sign free agents, which I think would probably be half of the $40, at best.

Shaq is about 57 past his prime. Hell, he's expensive, slow, and injures easily. That's right, just like the other O'Neal, whom we have the joy of having already. That last thing I'd want is two of those. Still, you cant deny Shaq's marketing value. But that is the extent of his usefulness, after that, he's just not sitting pretty with Obie.

Now, Diaw is the only upside here for me, but even he isn't enough to outweigh the incredible risk of this trade.

well we have the #11 pick. Im sure we'll get a PG if we end up keeping JO. If we sign someone like Westbrook and Augustin, they'll be NBA ready. We still have Flip, he can run point for us also
