At this point, the only reason I bring up trades is because of the draft. If you move JO now you can possibly get picks. If you don't move him now, and he gets injured again, then there is no shot at picks.

I am for keeping JO, but if he gets injured again I really be extremely upset and not surprised. However, if your going to move JO, move him now so we can can two possible first round picks to build around.

The way I read it, it was just that rumor.

Keep in mind that Givony was attributing it to JO's people, so it could be either positioning or wishful thinking on JO's (or someone close to him) part.

I don't think that you can rule out the rumor because your GM said so... I think it's obvious that no GM would say yes to things behind the scenes...

With that said, he never said he wasn't/isn't shopping O'Neal but just rather said that the rumor of the deal was false... Which leads me to..

The whole deal was false and never something that DX suggested... If you read it carefully enough it says the Pacers were dangling the #11 pick if someone would take on O'Neal's (preferrably but any bad one) contract... And then later on it says that people out of O'Neal's camp think he might get traded to the Cavs... And then, after that, DX throws in something that they are suggesting makes sense and could happen... Not something they said would be the package...

So really I see only two facts in the trade: Cleveland has interest in O'Neal and the Pacers would be willing to trade the #11 pick, if the right package came along and took some bad contracts out of their hands... Those are the only two things that I think Givony meant... Not the whole crap of the #11 + O'Neal for Snow and Szcerbiak... That was the fabricated part of it and why Givony is unfortunately getting ripped (especially for something he never said was true)

Don't know if it helps but someone on a Cavs board (very, very reliable) has mentioned O'Neal to the Cavs throughout the offseason as the most likely trade to happen... So there is interest from both clubs but not word on what the package might be... Just speculation and, unfortunately, fabrication...

I say we should keep him unless someone offers something of value, we can't give up the #11 pick just move the guy for a couple of useless players like Wally and Snow. If the Cavs want JO were gonna need Varejoa, Joe Smith, Damon Jones and their pick plus the Chicago pick from next year. That's not quite enough salary from them to make it work I think.

k we understand that you hate JO and it honestly seems like you hate the Pacers as well so I'm just wondering why you are here?

I agree with this...but I'm starting to wonder just how much JO wants out of Indiana. I think he is a good person (from all you read about him, he seems to be) and has great respect for the franchise that gave him a chance to play and made him a superstar...so I dont think he will go and publicly demand a trade. He has dropped hints to the media (even strong hints), but I wonder what he says to Pacers management. I, as a fan, would like to keep him if we are only going to get crappy offers for him, but if JO had came to Bird and said, "I want to be traded", that changes things a little. I still think that offers like Cleveland's arent the best we are going to get, but if management has decided they have to trade him, then we could potentially be trading him for what we, as fans, perceive below maximum value. It kind of puts our front office in a tough place, because they know Tinsley has to go and we arent going to get crap for him. Two trades where we get back crummy value might not inspire fans to come back to the Fieldhouse. Interesting offseason...

If that's the case, the Cavs will pass very, very quickly... You can ask most Cav fans and at the most, (maybe) they would give up Wally and AV for JO because of the health risks... If it weren't for the health concerns, then without a doubt... But he injury concerns are a big thing... And especially coming off the Larry Hughes debacle, I think this makes the whole Cavalier organization very, very leery....

I have no problem with the Cavs passing I don't expect a deal to get done JO is gonna have to come in here in the fall and play some basketball. The only way we can deal him is if someone has the faith in their medical examiners to give him a look and clear him. Then they have to be willing to take the risk of something going wrong or a recurance. I'd consider trading him for a package if someone really wants him, but who is gonna take the risk. The Wally and Joe Smith plus draft picks is the kinda thing I'd be looking at, Smith can hold down the PF for one more year and we might be able to deal Wally for some productive players at the dead line, maybe use him to get rid of Jamaal.

I don't believe like some have stated that JO is washed up or too crippled up to be effective, in the right system he could get you 20pts and 9 or 10 rbs and block 2 shots. That makes him a very baluable player, but he is a risk until someone sees him play 30 min a night and put up some numbers.

So I don't think he is getting traded.
