The Pacer Board Mock Draft Sign Up

Post#1 » by count55 » Fri Jun 6, 2008 2:10 pm

Still sorting out how to do this, but I thought we could maybe do our own mock draft here. I'd like to get a number of posters, randomly assign them draft picks (or teams, we'll see) and do the first round here...then see how close we get.

PR07 or someone will probably set up a Mock Draft Contest for draft night, but I always think it's interesting when you have multiple people doing a mock together. It removes most possibility for someone to (subconsciously perhaps) maneuver earlier picks to make a player available for a later team, and prevents a skewed perspective on any certain player.

So, let me know if you're interested...I thought we'd see who was interested in doing it, then get everybody assigned sometime next week, and get started so we could be completed by no later than Monday on the week of the draft (June 23).

Anybody interested?
I have no idea what you're talking about, and clearly, neither do you.

We'll probably just do the first round, but here's the order for both rounds:

First round Team
1 Bulls
2 Heat
3 Wolves
4 Sonics
5 Grizzlies
6 Knicks
7 Clippers
8 Bucks
9 Bobcats
10 Nets
11 Pacers
12 Kings
13 Blazers
14 Warriors
15 Suns (from Hawks)
16 76ers
17 Raptors
18 Wizards
19 Cavaliers
20 Nuggets
21 Nets (from Mavs)
22 Magic
23 Jazz
24 Sonics (from Suns)
25 Rockets
26 Spurs
27 Hornets
28 Grizzlies (from Lakers)
29 Pistons
30 Celtics
Second round Team
31 Wolves (from Heat, via Celtics)
32 Sonics
33 Blazers (from Grizzlies)
34 Wolves
35 Clippers
36 Blazers (from Knicks)
37 Bucks
38 Bobcats
39 Bulls
40 Nets
41 Pacers
42 Kings (from Hawks
43 Kings
44 Jazz (from 76ers)
45 Spurs (from Raptors)
46 Sonics (from Blazers, via Celtics)
47 Wizards
48 Suns (from Cavs
49 Warriors
50 Sonics (from Nuggets)
51 Mavericks
52 Heat (from Magic
53 Jazz
54 Rockets
55 Blazers (from Suns, via Pacers)
56 Sonics (from Hornets, via Rockets)
57 Spurs
58 Lakers
59 Pistons
60 Celtics

I think we'll probably assign teams, rather than picks. So, for example, whoever gets the Nets would have both of their first rounders. This would make it more consistent in thought process.

I'll do it, sounds like a fun excuse to look into what other teams might do.

I think just first round is perfect, and as always I'm in...

I am in too. This sounds like fun. I don't mind doing the Cleveland Cavaliers since I live in Ohio and I watch them enough, I know what they need and stuff. Whatever team you need me to do I will though. Thanks

Also, permission to start the draft day contest again?

Thanks...no need to ask my permission.

To clarify once again, we're going to do a "Group" mock with different posters making picks for different teams. Right now, we have:

FreeRon
massey1992
DGrangeRx33
blaha112
darkflashfox
mizzou
PP
bballpacen
dcbaseballer52
PR07
pacersheriam
count55

we can take maybe one more guy, which would put us in a position to basically have each person pick two (3 teams have no pick, Atlanta, Dallas, Lakers).

PR07 will run the draft day contest where everybody does their own mock, but this will make for some nice interplay.

It looks like we'll have this finalized today, and we'll start it either tomorrow or Sunday and conduct it over the next week or so. We have plenty of time.

I'll take the last spot, please.

If we get to pick our teams, I'll go with the NY Knicks.

OK...we'll go with 15...ahartleyvu and cdash are in...we need one more...and we'll plan on doing both rounds, two teams each (some will only have 2nd rounders...)

We're not going to pick teams...I'll draw them randomly and let you know.
