Morway on Ford podcast
On the NBA front page for ESPN you can find a link to a podcast featuring our GM David Morway. I'll provide some details once I get around to listening to it, but thought others might be interested.

I'm writing notes as I go so I apologize if someone else has posted an overview before I post this. It's pretty bland so far. We're focused on the #11 pick right now, but we're also looking at the trade market and free agency to improve our team.
A player's college career is our most important guage for them as players, but we do value the workouts as one piece of the puzzle. In particular, the interview process is important to us this year given the problems that our organization has had in recent years.
Talent versus need in the draft? Walsh always preached talent and so do Bird and Morway, but if talent is close then need wins out.
We need better PG play. Even if Jamal is healthy we feel we are one guard short. We also need size with Harrison's contract coming up. We also know we are more than one player away.
Asked directly about trading JO, he spoke about JO's health. He felt he was healthy two years ago before this meniscus tear. Last year they shut him down to get him healthy and when he came back they felt that they could see what they were missing. If he comes back healthy we're a better team.
We avoid the term "rebuilding." We always want to compete and next year we expect to be in the playoff mix. Had JO and Tinsley been healthy we would be a different team so it is difficult to justify dramatic changes that may not help us move forward.
There's the obligatory section where he talks about how great Walsh and Bird both are. I found it interesting that his focus on Bird had to do with his understanding of creating an effective locker room, and good team chemistry. That seemed at odds with some of the leadership problems we seem to be facing.
Chad asks how to rebuild the fan's trust after players have lost it the last few seasons. The answer wasn't particularly inspiring. He basically says that the team has to rebuild trust one day at a time by communicating with the fans. He focused on the hiring of Sam Perkins as a positive step in this direction.
--------------------------------------------------------------------
So that's it. Probably not worth a listen actually. It was pretty much the standard front office speak that you could hear from any team. Even the questions that were specific to Indy about JO, Tinsley, or public relations could have been substituted for any other question relevant to any team and the answers wouldn't have had to change much. Oh well, at least we got some exposure.
