I really like Pargo's energy and quick offense, which both go well with Obie's offense. He's had no outstanding crimes, either, which goes well with what the team needs. He's opting out of his contract, so he'll be expecting a little more, but I think that he could be at least a better backup PG/SG than what we've got now.

I wanted to sign him last offseason. He's an energy guy, who can shoot the longball and isn't afraid to take the big shot. Plus, he's aggressive and pesky on the defensive end. If we could unload Tinsley and draft a PG, he'd make a lot of sense.

Pargo can score, but I've just never liked his game...I think he is someone who takes shots away from his teammates. Not sure he is really an asset on offense for that reason, and his defense may be "pesky" but he is still not the kind of defender I want to see the Pacers get to shore up their perimeter D.

Wouldn't he just end up being a more expensive Flip Murray. Considering he's probably expecting a significant raise over his projected $1.9 mm, we're probably talking $3 to $4 mill a year, all of which will be over the luxury tax (barring a JO trade that gives us a payroll break), so we're talking $6 to $8mm cash for a shoot-first PG with Jamaal Tinsley-like shooting % ages.

If we get a PG in the draft we really wouldn't need him as Diener would make a good backup. Though Pargo would balance out a Westbrook like player better than Diener would.

he's not enough of an upgrade over Diener to be worth it. We need to either trade for a PG or look to land one via the draft. Free agency wont cut it.

I like Carlos Arroyo better than him. Pargo is a good scorer, but not a good commander to controll the rhythm on the court.

Also, I think Chris Duhon and Roger Mason are both good chocies for the Pacers. Duhon is a true PG, who pasts the ball first and play good defense. Mason stepped up for the Wizards and performed really well when agent zero was injured.

I agree. Pargo reminds me a lot of David Wesley 10 years ago. With the way our financial situation is I don't think he would be a really wise get.

Pargo blew up some in the playoffs some team is gonna pay too much for too long and get a serious disappointment. He's good for a backup, nice guy to bring in for some energy and points, but if you think he's gonna solve your problems, or if you have him rated real high you'll likely be disappointed.

^^ I don't really think he 'blew up' in the playoffs perse because what he did in the playoffs, he did a good many of games in the regular season as well. Perhaps it was just that you were just getting the chance to see him more in the playoffs than you did in the regular season.

Yeah i agree, Pargo is a proven clutch performer with the bulls and lakers, i like him, but not for the pacers.

Ditto. But the people that think he won't be worth the money he's looking for (at least in terms of the Pacers) are right. Not someone the Pacers should look at right now............

I watched him in the playoffs, especially against the Spurs, but i wasn't too impressed. He took way too many shots. He reminded me of Travis Best and the way Best played in 1998 against the Bulls where he forgot who the leaders were and tried to win it himself. Pargo missed alot of easy shots and made several turnovers, which were at some crucial times, but the thing i didn't like most was when he wouldn't pass to the open man. He didn't have the vision of a starter.

There's no way I'd want him as a starter, but for a reasonable price, yes. Unfortunately, that's probably not the case in this offseason.
