It's the NBA Draft.

What: 2008 NBA Draft
When: June 26, 2008, ESPN, 7 p.m.-12 a.m. ET
Where: Madison Square Garden, N.Y.
Rounds: Two rounds

Here Are the Rules:

Only one entry allowed per participant

Each Participant Will Try to Predict the Course of the First Round. There are 30 picks.

You can edit your entry as many times as you want until the draft starts.

This thread will be locked by one of the moderators, shortly before 7 P.M. on June 26th. All entries must be submitted before then.

A player can only be used once in your first round predicition.

One point will be awarded for each player correctly placed in the first round.
Example: If you have the Hornets taking Chris Douglas Roberts at #27, and he ends up being taken by the Magic at #22, then you will still earn one point because you correctly predicted him being taken in the first round regardless of his exact position.

An additional one point will be earned if you correctly place a player at their exact draft position.
Example: If I predict the Bulls taking Michael Beasley at #1, and he indeed goes at this spot, then I earn 2 points. One for correctly placing him in the first round. One for correctly predicting his exact draft position. Easy enough, right?

Even if a team trades their pick, you will still be awarded two points if you correctly predict the player at his actual drafted position.
Example: For instance, if I predict the Pacers taking DJ Augustin at #11, and they trade the pick to the Knicks who then take DJ Augustin. I still get two points.

In the event of a tie, the poster who has finalized their entry first, wins.
Example: If Joe Schmoe and myself both score 50 points, the participant who finalized their entry first wins. So, if edited my entry two hours before the draft, and Joe Schmoe edited his 4 days before, Joe Schmoe wins because he finalized his first.

*BONUS*:
You will earn an additional 5 points (in addition to the 2), if you correctly predict who the Pacers take at #11.
You will earn an additional 5 points if you correctly predict who the Pacers take at #41.

Here is the order and template you should use (Copy and paste it):

1. Chicago
2. Miami
3. Minnesota
4. Seattle
5. Memphis
6. New York
7. LA Clippers
8. Milwaukee
9. Charlotte
10. New Jersey
11. Indiana
12. Sacramento
13. Portland
14. Golden State
15. Phoenix
16. Philadelphia
17. Toronto
18. Washington
19. Cleveland
20. Denver
21. New Jersey
22. Orlando
23. Utah
24. Seattle
25. Houston
26. San Antonio
27. New Orleans
28. Memphis
29. Detroit
30. Boston

At #11, the Pacers will take: (fill in name)
At #41, the Pacers will take: (fill in name)

Now for the smack-talk. As winner of two of the last three competitions (my 2nd place finish last year was a fluke 8-) ), no weak attempt of an entry is going to get this done. In fact, you might as well just take your ball and just go home. That way, you won't get hurt. This competition is not for the weak of heart. RealGM and the Pacers' Board Moderating Crew assume no responsibility for the good 'ole fasioned schlacking that may ensue at my or anyone else's hands. In fact, it will probably just get swatted, Mutombo style :wavefinger: . Only the strong will survive, and well-thought entries are encouraged, so bring your "A" Game. I plan on bringing mine. Don't be discouraged though, this is still for fun. May the best prognosticator win!

Good luck, you'll need it.... muahahahaha.....

2005 Winner: PacersRule07
2006 Winner: PacersRule07
2007 Winner: PacerPerspective
2008 Winner: ?? (This Could Be You)

It's up for grabs.

Maybe, just maybe, you'll get that elusive trophy...

Any questions or concerns, feel free to PM myself or one of the Pacers' Board Mod Team, I'm sure they'll be happy to help.

Someone has to slay the mods. So theoretically, we can post something now and modify it 68 times before the draft if we were really that big of a loser (unfortunately, with Bloomington a ghost town during Summer II, I qualify). Sounds fun. How many people played in previous years?

How is that slaying us?

I will post, and edit multiple times, my entry here. Looking for back-to-back titles.

We usually get around two dozens entries I believe...

Man, PRO7...another tour de force. This is always one the best contests of the year. And a great initial post--entertaining, informative, witty and funny. Great job on this. But I'm still taking you down next Thursday. :)

PacersRule07 wrote:Only one entry allowed per participant

Can I get a special exemption on this one? I'd like to enter the board's mock draft, just to see how it does in the contest, and I'd also like to do one for myself.

Maybe we could post the board's mock as an honorary entry in Pacerfan's name? What do you think?

Thanks Mizzo. Great idea, absolutely.

As for taking me down, bring it on!

Possible? Yes. Easy? No.

Thanks! I'll post my entry sometime soon, and Pacerfan's sometime after Count gets done selecting Ultimato Sleeperovichikevicius for the Celtics at #60. And I'll make sure that everyone can tell which is which.

If your replying to my draft, well even thou I think we could use a shooter,I'm just not sold on Gordon's other parts of his game, but thats just my opinion just like yours! I hope he does do well in the pros,I like watching kids from the state do well, and he could very well be a better pro than he was in college, alot of players are like that, but at this time,I think we have bigger needs.

Oh I know you wasnt,it's all good. I passed on him at this time just because I think we have bigger needs. Doing this draft the past couple years has been fun,and I just did a quick one to make sure I got in before the deadline, but I really didnt put that much thought into it till Wed.,night when I edit my finale mock draft. But like the some boards Ive read, some think it's a deep draft, and I'm not seeing that either, but if I had it my way Derrick Rose would be a Pacer, but that wont happen, and at this point I dont have a set favorite for us to pick, but should be fun Thursday night watching and talking on here once again.Just hope the board dont get overloaded again.
