Dunleavy for Bargnani?

Post#1 » by xxSnEaKyPxx » Thu Jun 26, 2008 1:02 pm

I see on the trade sections that Raptor fans would be up for trading Bargnani for Mike Miller. What would ya'll think about trumping their offer with Mike Dunleavy? I know Bird loves his foreign bigs. Usually I would not like a trade like this, but with the #11 and #17 picks we can replace Dunleavy with Brandon Rush and then get another big with #17.

It would be a huge risk/reward trade, but I still think Bargnani could be a great player. Again, I would never have done this if it wasn't for the JO trade, but now I think this could make sense.

I'm with Bird. Dunleavy stays. plus, I think we'll have some rookie bigs to work in and I've not given up on Shawne.

I'm pretty sure that Mike Miller trumps Mike Dunleavy Jr. around the rest of the league. Miller's done it pretty much 3-5 straight years. Dunleavy's done it 1 1/2 years.

I'd do it..I'm in the minority but Bargnani is young. Yeah he regressed a bit this last year but he was still only a sophomore..His contract is a helluva lot cheaper and if we are in completely rebuild mode, then sure why not lets add former #1 pick..

Yes, let's trade a guy that could contribute on a championship team for a guy that sucks.

The most I'd give up for Bargnani is Ike Diogu and a future second round pick. Not a fan.

I don't see Toronto moving a player two years removed from being the 1st overall pick when his value is at an all time low around the league.

Lets not forget that Rob Babcock is not longer the Rap's GM.

Guys Bargnani is young and cheap. There was a reason he was drafted #1 overall. Granted it was a weak draft and Colangelo has a predilection for Euro talent. Simply put he is a 7 footer with a beautiful stroke and unlimited range. As far as perspective goes, until last year, Dunleavy's career average for scoring through 6 years was about equal to Bargnani's through 2. First two years, Dunleavy and Bargnani's 3pt% were almost identical. Even though he hasn't proved he can rebound as well as many hoped, he is still a great defender for a guy his size out on the perimeter. So we can get a guy who was just as productive during the same time period for almost a third of the price with a higher ceiling and is 6 years younger? I don't see why you don't do the trade.

You honestly don't see why people wouldn't want to do the trade? Look at Dunleavy's time with the Pacers, that should give you a pretty good idea of why not. I don't mind trading Mike, but if we do we should get a pretty darn good piece back in return.

I wouldn't do it. We need all the scoring we can get now that JO is gone, and Dunleavy is one our top ones. Otherwise, Granger becomes our sole and only big-time scorer.
