Miami seems to want to get rid of Marion. What about a trade like this:
Indiana Sends:
Tinsley
Murphy
1st round pick

Miami sends:
Shawn Marion

That would give us salary cap space to sign free agents next year. Gives us money to resign Granger. We would have a lot of money then for salary with Daniels,Foster,Marion, Rasho, and Jack.

We would still be left with:
Ford/Diener
Dunleavy/Rush
Granger/Williams/Graham
Foster
Hibbert

Why wouldn't Miami just keep Marion's all-star services this year, then use the $17 mill in cap space next year to replace him with another all-star?

Why blow that load on two horrible contracts who make little to no impact?

Tinsley gives them a point guard so Wade doesnt have to handle it all the time, and Murphy is a guy that can play C and shoot the three to space the court. 1-5 can shoot the three.

C'mon man, Tinsley doesn't give anyone anything and has a horrible contract. That's why he's on the block in the first place.

And the last thing we need from a center next to Beasley is a guy who hangs out 23 feet away offensivey as you suggest and doesn't defend all that well. Beasley already has that range himself and doesn't defend well. Not to mention, again, the horrible contract.

Miami's plan is to have Marion put up 18ppg/10 reb this year and lock down the other team's best offensive player (other than C's). Then when he expires in 12 months, use that $17 mill for a younger all star to form a longterm core of Wade/Beasley/AllStar. I can guarantee we are in no way, shape, or form interested in replacing that scenario with two awful contracts who are nowhere near as impactful as Marion to begin with.

It's really not even close, or worth you typing another response.

I agree with The Shiny...this is nauseating for the Heat. They don't want to give Marion the extension he wants but they don't want to lose him for nothing, so the only deal they might make is one for a good player with a low salary that's locked up for the next few years (probably someone still on their rookie contract) and a huge expiring. They'd have to get close to his value or there's no reason for them to make the trade...and I'm offended for them at this idea.

This deal was basically offered in this thread yesterday, and shot down. The only difference is that you added a 1st rounder to the deal.

I believe this deal is a non-starter and will only serve as a magnet for Heat fans, who will be insulted. I'm going to lock this up on the basis of how bad it is for Miami.
