Why for Pacers: They get an all-star in Shawn Marian and a young talented guard in Cook. They get rid of Williams and Murphy, and Dunleavy had a dream season last year, he won't be doing that again ever. Get rid of him while his value is very high, i am telling you.

Why for Miami: They get two big guards who can handle the ball and shoot, while adding size with Troy Murphy, who also can shoot.

Marion would be a great fit here, but as I said before the only reason they don't want him in Miami is that they don't want to give him the huge extension he wants and they think they can get something of value for him. Dunleavy and the future first are the only value in this deal, but the Heat commit themselves to way too much salary for way too long.

Now if it's something like Dunleavy, Williams, Daniels and Foster plus a future pick for Marion and Blount the might do that but I wouldn't count on it.

Why don't you ask Miami fans if they like that? While your at it add Tinsley from us and Blount from them. They want to get rid of Blount from what I hear, he's a year shorter than JT. I'd do that in a second but Miami/Riley would prob. laugh at us.

The plan is to go after guys like Lebron, Bosh, Amare in 2010 -- or any number of impact 2009 free agents -- with his cap space. And in the meantime he'll put up 18ppg/10reb for us this year without running a play for him, lock down the opposing teams best scorer (PG, SG, SF and some PFs), and complement Beasley perfectly.

He's not "my friend" and that would be an AWFUL trade.

If a Pacer fan offered Granger for Daequan Cook on the trade board, can I go around pretending it's realistic? Of course not.

Also, on a side not to that, Miami would be pretty dumb to not want Granger...not that we would trade him anyway.

How much cap filler would we have to take along with Granger to make it match Marions' $17 million? Not only would we have to take on and PAY these overpaid players for years, we'd then have to extend Granger on a near-max deal (because he's put up 7 ppg / 13ppg / 19ppg on bad teams), capping us out as far as the eye can see. Counting the cap filler you'd have to include plus Granger's extension, we'd be paying $27 million/year for him plus a couple overpaid softees.

Or we can have Marion put up 18ppg/10reb and play stellar defense for the next year or two, then use his cap space to chase down Wade's buddy LeBron, Melo, Amare, Bosh or guys who want to sign here next year like Boozer, Brand, etc.

THAT is the plan, no matter how badly other teams want to dump their contracts on us. Marion isn't even worth your time discussing here. Even if you could make the case that Riley would pull the trigger on a Granger deal, why the heck would you?

Secondly, when did I ever claim it to be realistic. I would appreciate it if you would stop trying to insinuate that I'm saying different than I am. I simply said that is what he was saying. Ok two points to make on this post Discussing a deal between the Heat and Pacers is only a theorical thing and the guy who posted this thread is not on of our regulars, he's a newby with a brand new ID. If you notice most of us said there's not way the Heat would do it. I myself said Riley would likely laugh at us if we offered even the best we would offer, Daniel (exp), Foster (exp), Williams, Dunleavy and Tinsley and a future pick, for Marion and Blount. I assume Blount has neg value to some degree, I've been hearing the Heat wants to move him.

I agree with you that there is no way the Heat would take both Murphy and Dunleavy considering the quality of the free agents that are comming up in 2010.

As for the Danny Granger issue, and his improvement, you say that his improvement is do to him playing on a "bad" team? Let me remind you that we won 36 games last season, that's nothing to cheer about, but that was with out our best player JO and our starting PG, Tinsley most of the season. It's not like we were a less than 20 win team. All things considered our guys stepped up and played hard dispite the adversity and injuries. Miami got 33 games from Shaq and 16 from Marion following the trade that's 7 more than we got from JO, and Wade played in 51 games and averaged almost 25 pts per. How many games did the Heat win? 15? I'm not trying to be a jerk here by pointing this out, or maybe I am, but you come on to our board and tell us that Danny Granger only gets what he gets for stats because the Pacers suck! 15 wins? And you're calling us a bad team? When your best player played in 51 games and you had Shaq or Marion for 49 games? Come on.
