I'm thrilled to have him as a backup PG. He's big and strong and really is the ideal compliment to Ford off the bench. I haven't gotten the chance to see him play much in Portland, but what I saw in Georgia Tech was a very hard nosed player who would dive for loose balls and really loved playing out there. I don't know if he has that same energy, but I do know he could start for some teams in this league. I mean the two guys we've gotten this year are better than anyone we've had in years.

I forget what game it was that I was watching, but Jack played great in the final two or three minutes. He had a couple steals and a three pointer along with some drives to the hoope. He can do it all.

Hes one of the better backup point guards in the league and his size and style complement Ford's nicely. In the unfortunate event that Ford gets hurt again, Jack can easily step in and start too. I feel much better having him as a backup than Diener.

If you mean all, as in make the absolute worst decisions on a fast break, then yes.

Charc, if you haven't stated it already, what's your opinion/scouting report on Jack? You probably know better than any of us.

You guys are happy with him now, but if he makes the same bone headed decisions he did last season, he will quickly become one of your most hated players, like he was in Portland.

He's a good guy, but just wait 'til he dribbles the ball off his foot with game on the line...

I think INDY will be happy with Jack. For a team thats starting to enter a transitional stage into rebuilding he is going to be a great culture guy. The Blazers give out a special parking space to the hardest working player at the practice facility each summer. Well Jack won it hands down. No one works harder than this guy. He is also young (25) and was a starter a couple years ago.

I would expect around 10, 3, 4 from him as a backup combo. As someone mentioned he will be a perfect compliment to Ford.

His strengths are driving to the basket and getting to the line where is a great FT shooter. He will step up his game at big moments and is a leader. Weakness are his inability to run a fast break, consistency, and three point shooting. Last season it was frustrating to watch teams just back off him and double Roy and LMA.

Well said Odonism. That is the ideal situation. I think the pacer fans all agree that we understand his talent is not world class but the way you describe his other attributes, it seems that they more than compensate for his other shortcomings.

Odonism summed it up pretty well. With the Pacers being a running team, it is going to put him in a bad situation alot of times. His size makes him a liability guarding most 2's and his decision making ability is not good enough to be a point. While I do not see JJ causing trouble, he was not a big fan of the laid back NW. Indy is not much of an upgrade in being a "bling" city.

When it was announced that JJ was part of the trade, the Rose Garden erupted with cheers. When the final details were read, "Hit the Road Jack" was being sung. No one can hate the guy for lack of professionalism or hard work, but some of the mistakes he made on the court had alot of fans cursing. Nate continuing to play him made everyone even madder.

I will be surprised if he is with the team next year. Will post in another thread my final analysis of the trade.

Jack is a great guy. I would say his best asset is getting to the hoop (with his above average pg strength) and converting. He is a great free throw shooter, also. There will be frustration with turnovers, but since he is the backup that won't hurt as much. Good luck, while I'm glad he's gone I also will miss him. He was a class act.

PS: Nate McMillan loved Jack maybe more than Roy.

I think Jack is probably going to be a good compliment to TJ and is an upgrade to Diener. Im still a bit sore over not having Bayless though.

I like him easily seen from my profile name. He brings some good character to the team and he is a solid backup.

I am a Jarrett Jack basher, so take this sincerly.

Jack will bring a lot to your team. He is an absolute star in the locker room. Every Blazer player loved him, and he is a natural leader. He is a fierce competitor that will get in to an opponents face if one of his teammates is getting abused.

He takes the ball to the hoop well.

He has a decent jumper

He is a average defender

What he does poorly is this......

Poor court vision

Makes poor decisions with the ball

Tries to do too much

As a back up to a clearly better player that will get the majority of minutes he will be good. Expect some dumb plays, as well as a few we stole this guy moments.

As for charcater, without knowing your team I would say he probabaly has the best on your team right now.

If you guys play your cards right, you might be able to steal Bosh away from us... but PLEASE DONT!! :P

- Jack is Bosh's best friend, and I'm pretty sure that Bosh and TJ are still really cool.
- You guys should be in a position to be able to offer Bosh a max deal in 2010/11 - especially if you can deal Tinsley for a shorter contract
- You guys are more talented on the wings than the Raptors are.
- over the next few years you should have the assets and cap space to build a stronger core too

Man, I can't figure some people out. You guys praise Diener who shoots under 40% and plays no defense, and your scared of Jarret Jack? I just don't understand this.
