just wondering what you guys think of him. what kind of PT do you see him getting. are you bitter that he went to duke instead of a local or big 10 school?

I think very little of him. I see him getting garbage time minutes maybe, even with our lack of depth at PF. Not at all bitter he went to Duke. He was overrated in high school, he underachieved in college, and he has done nothing to show me he has what it takes to be a rotation player in the NBA.

He was never a 20 and 10 type of guy, but he is a solid "glue guy" type player who does everything well, though great at nothing

Above average passer,above average runner for a big man... i actually think he would do well in an up-tempo offense like ours

Imagine Ford leading the break with Granger, Dunleavy, McRoberts, and Foster
maybe mix in daniels and graham for our best running line-up

I see him getting the same minutes Diogu got, next to nothing. anything more would be a real bonus. if you are asking a fantasy question, pass.

I've heard we were able to release the ball boy AND the towel boy! Looks like Josh will fill a big role here.... Why would we be bitter about him going to Duke? College is a personal choice and really should be made based on academics, not athletics. It actually ticks me off that they make these guys go to college just because it makes the athletic department make more and more silly little improvements to impress players, and we all know that the "anonymous donors" are the entire student body.

Well, if we buy out Tinsley or make a 2-for-1 trade later this summer, he might make the team.

Otherwise, his future with the team probably depends on how much of Grahams's $852k salary is guaranteed. If it's 100% guaranteed, and we have 16 guys under contract, then McBob and his roughly $750k is the odds on favorite to be the odd man out.

i hate mcroberts. he is a terrible player and he went to duke. he is a crybaby and is absolutley terrible. we need to trade dunleavy and him for anyone who didn't go to duke, there are no good players that went to duke besides deng and hill. most all overrated. he should sit the bench for the nbdl

Good golly dude no offense but PLEASE get off the Duke bashing train! I hate Duke as much as you do...or almost as much I suppose as I am not willing to make a blanket statement about all players who ever went there. Yes, players from Duke and UNC both are generally overrated for the draft. Past Christian Laettner, though, I can't think of a single player from either team that is just drastically overrated right now. Overpaid, certainly. Overvalued by fans of their teams, of course. It was funny the first time you mentioned it, too, but that was when I thought you were joking. At this point I pray you're joking because of the ignorance of your attacks on Dukies, but if that is the case you've way overdone it and it's getting annoying. I've got nothing against you personally and I'm not saying you shouldn't post on here, just next time PLEASE try to leave Duke out of it.

Yeah, I hate Duke as much as the next guy, but this is getting old. We get you don't like Duke, no use in polluting the board to express the same sentiment over and over whenever a player that has played from Duke is being discussed.

About McBob, I don't see him ever becoming much in the NBA. He does have decent athleticism, but he seems very week and awkward looking. He also has very little offensive game. I think he can be a good helpside defender and get some blocked shots, and he is also capable of finishing dunks, but he is pretty useless outside of 3 feet from the basket and won't give you a ton with man to man defense.

I don't see how a guy who can't win a highschool sectional can help the Pacers. But it will be cool because in camp his Mom will be there to make everybody cookies.

McBob never won a high school sectional title? That to me is unbelievable. I wonder if there are any other NBA players than can say that?

I'm sure there are plenty of NBA players that never won a high school sectional...you have to figure somewhere along the line someone ended up having the same problem the Jazz did with the whole idea that your team happens to peak during the reign of one of if not the greatest player in NBA history comes along. That's exactly what the whole debate was about with Reggie and Karl never winning rings...which I think is a dumb reason for excluding somebody from the Hall of Fame because I don't know of any players since the days of Wilt and Russell when the entire rest of the NBA sucked that could carry a team to a Championship by himself. I think the biggest thing that will hurt Karl is that he had John Stockton for most of his career, although you can't really blame them for not being able to get past Jordan and Pippen.

In all fairness, McRoberts did play in one of the toughest sectionals in the nation probably. Besides, Carmel is never all that good at basketball and he had to go up against guys like Conley and Oden for a chunk of that time.

Right that's why they were one game away from playing in the State Title game this year. They were 21-4 in his Senior year, I'd say that was pretty good. Oden and Conley were not in his way because they were in a different sectional. He played against them once a year. He did play against guys like Courtney Lee, Robert Vaden, Justin Cage, Eric Gordon, AJ Ratliff and George Hill in that sectional.

I'd like to see McRoberts make the team just because he's the one PF on the current roster who has upside. In addition, he possesses a rare skill set for a big that could really thrive in a system like O'Brien's. His ability to handle and pass the ball could make him a key rotational player for us down the road. It's just a matter of whether he's willing to mature as both a player and a person. He has the talent though, no question.

If he doesn't make it here, I don't see him making it anywhere however.

Needless to say, "Who cares about what the guy did in high school?" McRoberts is a marginal player, if he can stick around and develop he might become a decent 2rd or 3rd string pf, but right now he is a 14th or 15th man on a roster.

Just because your team doesn't win a sectional doesn't mean you are no good. I beleive he was Mr. Basketball of Indiana his senior year.

My sister plays for Decatur Central, probably a top 15 team in the state, yet they will never get out of their sectional because it is rules by BEN DAVIS. For anyone who doesn't know... the BD girls team has about 5 or 6 D1 players on it right now, and 1 has already committed to Purdue.

When they get to regionals however there is a bigger audience and it is clear that the officiating changes and does not allow them to be as aggressive on defense, thus they lost to this year's state champ Carmel.

Okay, my bad. No need to get defensive. I'm from Evansville, and I was under the impression that Carmel played in the same sectional as Pike, North Central, Lawrence North, etc. I stand corrected. What I meant was Carmel isnt really a "traditional" basketball power. Which again, I could be wrong about.

McRoberts is a 20/20 player -- Meaning he will only play if we are up 20 or down 20 with 2 minutes to go.

Honestly, I would feel bad if we brought him back to Indiana only to cut him. As it stands right now, some people will have to go for us to get to 15. Likely candidates at this point are Graham, Denier, Baston or McRoberts.
