IND-OKC

Indiana Outgoing:
Jamal Tinsley
Shawne Williams
OKC Outgoing:
Chris Wilcox (1 yr left)
Why for Pacers:
-get rid of Tinsley
-get low post PF that can come off the bench
-expiring contract
Why for OKC:
-get veteran help at PG while they wait for Westbrook to develop because watson and ridour arent working
-get solid prospect in Williams
I would be kind of weary to give up Williams because I like his potential, but if Tinsley goes with I'll do it. I have seen in the news that OKC wants to be active in the trade market and this is one trade I feel they could do since their frustration at PG.
BTW isn't it weird to call them OKC after they have been the Sonics for so long?

Unless they have side deals for Ridnour and Watson, this trade ain't happening.
Best they could do if they wanted to move Tinsley to Oklahoma is a similar contract in years and value. The only one of the OKC roster is Collison.

why would Sonics do this? They already have Ridnour, Watson, and Westbrook. Adding Tinsley wouldnt help them at all. It would only ruin their cap space.
To be honst no one is taking TInsley. The only way we're getting rid of him is to buy him out

I don't see us buying him out, either. If Donnie were here we wouldn't. We'd let him rot on the bench until somebody made an offer because you know there are teams willing to pay his salary that are just waiting until he gets bought out. I really hope we would leave him on the roster and make him stay home unless we don't make a trade to reduce our roster size, in which case we'd have to buy someone out and I can't see a reason not to buy him out at that point.

Re: IND-OKC
I see certain fits for Tinsley around the league, but as fans, we aren't going to like them, in theory. In reality, we'd love them to just get rid of Tinsley at any cost. Milwaukee might take him if they get to dump Gadzuric. NY might take him if they get to dump Jeffries or James. Phoenix might take him if they get to dump Diaw's longer and much more expensive contract.
As for OKC, the only deal I see possible between us is a Daniels for Donyell Marshall swap (which I'd gladly do), or possibly a Daniels/Williams for Wilcox swap (which I'm not sure I'd do).

Re: IND-OKC
Huge mistake leaving him on the roster...It's going to be a circus. The broad public won't know the difference between him being the starter and him being exiled, so you'll have people still saying the Pacers are the same. He'll be an omnipresent shadow around the team. The players will wonder what the hell we're doing with him. The Players Union will almost certainly come poking around, and, while they may ultimately have no recourse, they can certainly make trouble in the short run.
Look at what we're doing...We all know that, for all intents and purposes, Jamaal Tinsley has played his last game in a Pacer uniform. (Or at least we strongly suspect it.) Nonetheless, he is still a steady topic of conversation. As long as he's on the roster, he will be a magnet for ill will towards the Pacers. And, more frightfully, as long as he's still on the roster, there's the possibility that he might "make nice", and we look at that contract and say, "hey, we're paying him, maybe he's reformed and healthy and we can get some minutes...plus it'll help his trade value." I don't even want that temptation.
Make the rounds this summer, take anything you can get (though I'm not wild about Diaw's contract), and go from there. If you haven't gotten any takers by Oct 1...buy him out. I never thought I'd say that, but it needs to be done. "Letting him rot" runs too much of a risk that the rot could spread and infect other parts of the team.
As to the other stuff...I don't see much, if any value in the Daniels/Marshall deal, but it doesn't do any harm, I guess. I've never gotten the fascination with Chris Wilcox, but I guess that one's OK. Again, I think the idea that we need a PF is something that we've generated on our own. I'm not in the least convinced that the Pacers are actually looking for one.

I have no idea what you're talking about, and clearly, neither do you.

Re: IND-OKC
I predict we'll start to get real information on Tinsley at a press conference this week to introduce the guys coming in from Toronto and Portland.

Re: Oklahoma City/ Indiana Trade
Why do we want another PG and why would the OKS Sonics ( or whatever they are called ) want Tinsley?
I think that the Sonics are going to let Marshall expire....and will likely parlay Wilcox and Ridnour into some decent trading assets ( $$$ and / or future draft picks ).
Keep in mind that trades meeed to make sense for both team...this trade does that for neither.

i thought 15 mil in exp and 2 picks in 2010 fit this paramiter. so basically take tinsley and marshall and it makes sense.

Re: IND-OKC
Well I don't hold out much hope that OKC would take JT in any event, most likely we'd have to take Luke Ridnour or Watson in a deal. I'd jump at this Daniels and JT for Marshall and Ridnour. Ridnour cuts a year off of JTs contract and he's a guy who can play combo gaurd Marshall=Daniels, I'd rather have Wilcox but I don't see that happening, maybe if we give them Shawne but still not likely.

Yeah, you're certainly trying to do that, but Tinsley doesn't fit the parameter of a decent trading asset, and is actually a huge net negative for them. If you replaced Tinsley with any other 3 year MLE sized contract in the league, they'd be more likely to consider it.

Re: IND-OKC
I can see some mutual benefits from the JT/Shawne for Wilcox idea. I doubt OKC would go for it though considering they just drafted Westbrook and it is my belief that he is ready to start on a team as bad as OKC. Jamaal makes far too much in these final 3 years to come off the bench. Between those 2 thoughts, I think OKC would pass.
