As many may know, Rasho will not be in town for the press conference with the media because he is in Athens this week attempting to help his national team qualify for the Olympics. Slovenia is a small country, of about 2 million people, and trying to qualify for the Olympics in basketball is a big dream. They are missing all their other NBA players due to free agency and some key European players due to injury.

Yetserday Slovenia beat S. Korea and Rasho had 26 points and 9 rebounds.

Today, they beat Canada 86-70, with Rasho scoring 14 points, grabbing 9 rebounds, and blocking 4 shots with 2 assists and 2 steals. He totally dominated Dalembert who ended with 4 points on 1-8 shooting.

Rasho is shooting 71.4 % FG % (20/28) for this tournament.

Slovenia moves into the Quarterfinals. Top 3 make the Olympics.

I know he isn't a long term answer for the Pacers, but I am really excited about Rasho. I remember last year he came on really strong towards the end of the season when he was starting for the Raptors while Bosh was down. If I remember correctly he was good for something like 15, 9, & 2 blks a game. If he can put up numbers like that for us, I'll be extremely pleased. I wouldn't be surprised to see him start at some point of the season.

Rasho seems to be like Nash the older he gets the better he is. 8-)

Rasho is a very serviceable player. He was great during his time in Toronto. Never complained about minutes and always did his job. Nothing spectacular but he is a big body who can take up space, get some rebounds and hit the open baseline J from time time. A good minutes eater at the C position and also a very good teammate. The only problem I see with Rasho on the Pacers is his athleticism and speed or lack thereof. Other than that you guys got a good player.

I am happy to get Rasho. Unlike Ford, Jack and the rooks we pretty much know what we will be getting here. I think he will perform admirably as a Pacer.

Pretty much what I'm thinking. A platoon of Foster and Rasho with a bit of Hibbert sprinkled liberally will be a pretty solid center rotation.

Good stuff. Disappointed that Lorbek isn't playing though. Is he just not good enough or hurt? Whats the story with that?

Also, Stanko Barac is playing for Croatia, played 9 minutes vs. Cameroon, 2pt and 2reb.

Oh he is definetly good enough, he just signed with arguably the best team in Europe and one of the top 3 for sure, and they didn't sign him based on looks.
He seems to be hurt and tired, basicly he just wanted a summer off really :)

Not many players in Europe who are not in total outsider clubs average what he averaged.
For example the best scorer had 18points per game lorbek had almost 14.
The best rebounder averaged 8.5 rebounds Lorbek averaged 5.5.

For example thats almost what Scola averaged.

All in all he is a very good player hejust needed some time off from playing every summer the past few summers, he would be our starting PF now that Smodis got injured if he would have played.

Well the coach doesn't want to answer any questions about what happens if we qualify for OG.

But i think he wouldn't want to call any other players just so he doesn't screw up the chemistry we got, and i don't think Lorbek would respond because he said he had some foot or back problems or w/e and he i am guessing would have a hard time explaning why the pain is all gone. :P

But i don't judge the players who take one summer off, it is normal they are human too and i sure as hell would want at least 1 summer off in 10 years to work on my game individually and relax in the sun for more then 1 week.

He always came to help our NT in the past and he will do so in the future plus he is still young so there will be OG for him in the future( i hope :P )

Rasho always was good when TD was out when he was with the Spurs.

Rasho is good when he is the dominant post man for his team down low.

years ago we used to have lunch at the Slovenian National Home here in Indy. I looked on the web and it's still there but if they're open for lunch every day, they don't mention it.

Rasho's a solid player at the 5 spot. Still hoping you guys cut him so that we can get him for the minimum.

Oh, I dont think you have to worry about us listening to Stephen A. Smith. How that gooftrooper got as far in life as he has astounds me. He has no real insight and all he does is scream and give the camera quizzical looks. If he and Skip Bayless were off TV, all of us would be better off for it.

Slovenia vs Puerto Rico on Friday. Last week they played a friendly warm up game and Slovenia won by 11. Hopefully, that repeats itself this week.

Not to bring up a old topic, but Slovenia lost to Puerto Rico and are out from the Olympic games.

I would at least like to hear what Rasho has to say about the trade. Does anyone know if such a thing exists yet?

I'm pretty sure he hasn't spoken about it yet. I heard he will fly back to the States once that qualify tournament ends, so i think he'll be in sometime this week and maybe even hold a presser. I too am interested to see what he says.
