Don't sleep on the Pacers

For the last few seasons the Indiana Pacers have been a joke permanently residing in the lower half of the Central Division, but after a summer in which Larry Bird traded away the face of his franchise in Jermaine O'Neal, Indy suddenly has new hope.
Go ahead, sleep on the Pacers.
Nobody expects a revamped and suddenly very young group to make much noise in an increasingly competitive league, but the Pacers are going to give teams headaches.
I think this might be the first year we actually might

I read this article probably 2-3 days ago and while entertaining, I don't really expect us to do much more than a similar record to last year. It is debatable but I feel the PG position to be the most important position on both sides of the court and the top 2 on the depth chart are new to the team. On top of that, we have other new players as well. If everyone expects us to be horrible and heading for a top 5 pick, we will provide a definite surprise but as to overachieving, I do not find it all that plausible.

if Rasho and Hibbert can play up tempo so that Foster and Murphy can stay at the four spot, we'll be competitive in a much tougher East. in no particular order, Detroit, Philly, Orlando, Toronto, Cleveland ... hmmm, I think that's enough for the top and fighting for home court advantage group. Pacers, Atlanta, Chicago, Milwaukee, probably not New Jersey, not Miami. who am I missing? oh, Washington; probably should have put them in the top group. not Charlotte. yes, sounds like we're in the high 30's to mid 40's. a chance for a playoff spot but probably better in the long run to stay in the lottery. I don't see a top five pick unless we get lucky like Chicago did this year.
but as I say every year, if you can't be optimistic in August, you're not a fan.

I'm a little uncertain as to what to expect. I'm excited as i have been for a number of years but this roster looks entirely different. It could be surprisingly proficient with the youth movement and Granger's new leader status, it could however take a while for these guys to find their niche. Either way i'm looking forward to the Pacers simply getting back to the court for basketball without the worry of off the court issues.
A trouble free season will be a massive step in the right direction in my eyes.
