Pacers get a little love from writers

From Chad Ford, ESPN
Indiana Pacers
The Pacers did most of their work prior to the draft and on draft night, although none of it could be officially announced until July. For a team that was capped out and had no future, the Pacers found solid value for Jermaine O'Neal, fixed their problem at point guard with the addition of T.J. Ford and Jarrett Jack and added a couple of solid rookies in Brandon Rush and Roy Hibbert. Most importantly, Larry Bird and David Morway gave themselves considerable cap flexibility starting next summer.
As for the upcoming season, the Pacers could be a sleeper to sneak into the playoffs, especially if they can find a home for Jamaal Tinsley and shore up the power forward position

Nice to see some positive reports on Bird and Co. Now if we can just get that PF

TJ has proven in the past he can be a game controller, if he can maintain health and consistency he can turn out to be sensational for this team. Rush and Hibbert are nothing to write off either. To be honest i think Hibbert's game will develop quite nicely, i don't see him being much of a stiff at all, his character alone is enough evidence that he will work as hard as necessary to be a long term factor in this league. And Rush should be able to provide enough intangibles to be fitting of his selection, not to mention the aquisition of Jarrett Jack who is a proven NBA point guard who is more than proven defensively.
Don't get me wrong i'm not ready to say we did the certain thing with the Bayless trade, but i can hardly see how you can't give props for the moves that have been made. Let's not forget exactly how raw Bayless is right now. Sure he can score, but run an offense? I'm far from convinced atm.
It might not happen right away but the moves made will help this franchise in the future immensely.
The write up is spot on, Bayless or not. we're heading into next season with a completely new look, and i for one haven't been more excited about this team in 3 or 4 years. Bring on October!

We all are entitled to our own opinions.
With that, I'll disagree on that we suck and TJ Ford. I'll give you the Bayless for Rush because I think that may eventually be the outcome and while I also question the Hibbert pick for the reason you mention, he has reportedly been getting in better shape.

I understand the questioning of his speed, but i firmly believe this guy will do what it takes to be a true giant in the nba. He's gonna be Sky-Hooking for years to come

Hopefully Brandon Rush will give us flashes of a young Reggie Miller...and hopefully Roy Hibbert will come along the way Rik Smits did. If Bird got us players with futures close to Reggie and Rik, we'll be in high cotton in a few years!....especially if we can grab a high profile power forward next summer. I know that's a lot of "ifs" but all of sports is a bunch of luck and "ifs", whether it's the Colts, the Pacers, or the Indy 500.

lol HicksvsKnicks, thanks for posting the article. The CBS dude, totally dissed what Chad Ford was saying and mocked the Pacers. A Mod, deleted CBS' post and wrote in red "Don't waste our time with this nonsense". He was talking to CBS, not you. haha
Memo to mod, if you could, could you make sure you let it be known when you edit a post? I know most of the times it's done. Just a pet peeve, i've seen it a few times and figured i'd address it.

I generally do, unless it's something minor like fixing some php code or the like. This morning I was in a hurry to get to work, so I must've forgotten. (I will sometimes forget to sign an edit because I'm trying to record the original elsewhere so that the admins can see what I changed and why...it's kind of an involved process, and I have the attention span of a golden retriever.)
Also, there's supposed to be a "last edited by" line at the bottom that has been off and on since the software upgrade on this site. It used to show pretty clearly who had done the edit, but it appears that it's off again today. (I notice the sigs are kinda spotty, too.)
The comment was clearly directed at cbs, who had trolled a half-dozen boards last night/early this morning with similar comments. It was in no way directed at the OP.

Your welcome. In retrospect I think I mostly attacked him because Chad Ford was one of the few writers who gave us big props for the trades and draft picks. I would have been po'd if he turned out not to have credibility. lol
it's funny how all of us at times, myself included, simply obliterate an opinon of a writers career when we strongly disagree with something they said.
