Denver Nuggets - Indiana Pacers

Here are 2 possible trades. Now i will be honest I don't know how high they are on Nene so I may sound stupid. LOL.

1.Tinsley, Shawne, McRoberts, 1st FOR Nene, 2nd

2. Tinsley, Daniels, Shawne, McRoberts, 2nd FOR Nene, Atkins

Why for IND:
We get rid of Tinsley, while at the same time bring in the PF we need

Why for DEN:
They free up cap space with shorter smaller contracts. Get a starting pg for cheap. get a high draft pick.

Even if they're not that high on him, look at his contract and I couldn't possibly include a 1st rounder for Nene. That's just a huge amount of salary for a guy that has such a small a sample size of effective games, and who didn't really show a whole lot consistent effectiveness when he actually was healthy.

As a Denver fan, I'd do it only because I know that a Pacers 1st rounder will be worth a lot more than Nene by itself.

Nene's upside when he's healthy is pretty big. You'd be taking a chance on him though.

I'm with the denver fan. our first rounder will probably be worth almost as much as Nene alone. I'd do the trade with a 2nd or just the players but not the 1st.

I would do a deal with J.T./ MURPHY in it . Do not do deal with Daniels include - we want his CAP SPACE next year. I think NENE would be guy that could give us inside power scoring. but by no means I would trade a 1st

I would not deal a first rounder some a guy like Nene, and that's not a knock on him.

I like Jt and murphy for martin and Atkins better. Nene has missed too many games and his contract is 4 yrs. Definetly no first round pick.

Nene has a HUGE contract and he often injured. I'd NEVER want a first round pick going for Nene. Hes a good player, but always injured. But then again, so is Tinsley.

Theres not much value difference between Tinsley and Nene. Theyre both good players when they play, but are both always injured and have huge contracts. The only different is that Tinsley has attitude problems.

Something like Tinsley + 2nd rounder for Nene should be good enough

OKay this is my counter:
Tinsley
Shawne
McRoberts
---------------
Nene

Now I know Nene has a larger and one year longer of a contract than Tinsley, but he will actually play for us and won't be a PR issue. As mentioned he has had injury issues, but I think since he is still young and we are rebuildiing that he could get proper time to rehab properly. With his age and potential. I think he can be a legit Co-star. I'm personally done with Shawne. He's hasn't shown me the talent of Tinsley and is getting into trouble too much too early. So I think he needs to go. This trade would also get our roster down to 14. Rid ourselves of Tinsley and Shawne. And bring in the PF we need. The only reason I dont like the Kmart deal is because he is older. Injury prone. Paid a ton. And I dont think he will want to be here. I dont know if he has any PR issues or not. The big differences between Kmart and Nene for me is.
Age: Nene
Salary size: Nene
Salary length: Kmart
Injuries: Equal (but i always thought Kmarts were worse I could be wrong)

I know this would sound crazy, but I dont want to trade a big for a big (murphy - kmart) because we still need a backup. And murphy would be huge off the bench for us.

So in conclusion:
Ford/Jack/Deiner
Rush/Daniels/Graham
Granger/Dunleavy
Nene/Muprhy/Baston
Rasho/Foster/Hibbert

Heck that bench is a starting lineups for some teams. As a matter of fact that was almost our starting lineup last year. LOL. I like Dunleavy off the bench much like Ginobli

I would rather buy Tinsley out than invest an additional $20mm in a player who's missed almost 60% of his team's games over the last four years.

hoopshype has him at 9.6 mil 2008, 10.5 mil 2009, 11.3 mil 2010, and 11.6 mil in 2011. So its about half that, but Im not sure how accirate it is. Also Simon, Bird, and Morway have all said the same NO BUYOUT! And I tend to agree. But regardless. The Id rather buy him out. isnt an option. It would be the same as me saying Id rather trade him for Kobe. Not going to happen. I honestly believe when they say this. They are restoring the pride. You cant have your president, gm, and owner all say for sure something absolutly will not happen. and then turn around and do it. it makes you look foolish.

I just realized you were probably talking about Kmart in which Im sorry for the ramble. I thought you meant Nene at first. Sorry.

Nene is owed $43.2mm over the next four years.

Tinsley is owed $21.6mm over the next three, and Williams is owed $1.6mm this year (we have not picked up the option on next year, yet) for a total about about $23.2mm in contracts.

In taking back Nene, we'd be on the hook for $20mm more.

I was not predicting a buyout. I was merely saying that it would be preferrable to investing $43+mm in a player who has had major injuries to his knee and his thumb. Also, I'm not sure how long it will take for him to recover from his bout with cancer, and how it will impact his play long term.

When they say they are not going to buy him out, then I also assume that they are not going to do something that could potentially do significantly more damage than a buyout.

I had not heard about nene having a bout with cancer, sounds like they got it real early, but yeah if that becomes an issue down the road his contract might not be insured for us. The reason I'd do JT and Murphy for Kmart and Adkins is simple, yes we take on the previously injured kmart, who looked like he was getting a lot better last season Atkins would be a back up and has a non garanteed contract for 2009-10, we keep our expiring contracts, and of course we move jamaal. In addition we are moving Murphy's huge deal so taking on kmart is not as bad as taking on a nene and still having to keep Murphy. We'd still be a little thin at PF but with all the expiring contracts we have and still having Shawne and Diener we might be able to make a 2nd deal to get a backup PF.

hey guys. I was thinking about some of the Denver trades going around and I am not sure if they are going to want to trade Kmart, while over paid and injury prone, he is a top defender and someone they need after getting rid of Camby. Nene seems to be a part of their future without camby. So if the Nuggs are content on keeping both bigs then how would this trade look:

Denver Trade Breakdown
Incoming Players
Stephen Graham

Shawne Williams

Jamaal Tinsley

Outgoing Players
Chucky Atkins

Steven Hunter

Indiana Trade Breakdown
Incoming Players
Chucky Atkins

Steven Hunter

Outgoing Players
Stephen Graham
Shawne Williams
Jamaal Tinsley

We get rid of Tin man and our contracts we receive are not too bad.

Would we have to give up more or would the Nuggs, like draft picks at all? Let me know what you guys think and maybe we can finally find a Tinsley trade good enough for both us and the other team. Thanks everyone!

hey mrbrad86 I seem to think you've posted this before? I'd be ok with JT, Shawne and Graham for Atkins and Hunter but I'm not sure the nuggs would like it much they can't afford to take much salary, i didn't do the math but I think we're giving them about 2 million or so here. if it puts them back over the luxury tax they won't do it.

It's unlikely that Denver will do this, because it adds $2mm to their salary for this season. They've made it a stated goal (and demonstrated it by dumping Camby) that they want to get under the luxury tax threshhold, and they're still a couple mill over.

Yeah they aren't gonna do anything that puts them back over the tax threashold. That's why JT, Murphy and Graham for Atkins and KMart works better because the salaries are about even. normally i'd never want to take a guy like KMart with the big contract that has 3 season left and his past history of injury, but he did look to be back pretty good last season and he offsets the lose of Murphy. All this I'll do to get rid of Jamaal. Taking Atkins is to equalize contracts as he has little value to us on the court but his contract is not garanteed past the coming season. So after the season he he could become a valuable trade piece, we could include his not garanteed contract in a trade to a team who is over the tax level and they could then cut him saving something like $3,480,000. Considering that we have a bunch of expiring contacts this season we would be under the tax and even under the cap. Rasho, Foster, Daniels and Baston are all expiring and only Foster has a chance to be resigned, in my opinion.

If we did the kmart deal we'd be looking at about $49 million (assuming Danny and Jack take QOs rather than big new contracts) in payroll next season not counting Atkins, we could look for a FA or 2 or trade Atkins for a player and a pick and add to our youth movement, or resign Granger

We'd still have Shawne, Diener and Daniels who would be expendable/tradeable to get a PF and in the case of Daniels with his good sized expiring contract maybe a pick as well.
