Cool article about a guy who got the Madden09 early , and is paid to play it 24 hours straight. Tough job, lol

Any Madden players out there?

That's probably the saddest Madden cover ever. It was a good idea, and it was fitting given the gushing John Madden gives Favre, but now that he's back and in a Jets uniform, it looks like they should have stuck with Adrian Peterson.

They're giving a download to print a new cover so you can have an updated Madden, and also roster downloads.

I don't even have a console to play it with, and I'm having a tough time coming up with the money for it these days.

I am a huge Madden fan, and have been playing for about fifteen years, but I will not be this year.

My 360 crapped out a few days ago, perfect f'n timing. I can turn it on, it's not the red lights of death, but nothing comes on my television. I can hear the sound effects but that's it. They want $100 to fix it, because it's past warranty.

Microsoft = Satan

I've yet to have a problem with my Wii, by the way. While in less than two years, my 360 has crapped out twice.

Wow, mine did too. It started pulling some BS freezing crap, and then I try to turn it off and on, and the aforementioned red lights of death sprouted up. Evidently, this is a common problem for 360s. I wanted to chuck mine out of my 7th story window. So annoying.

Likewise, my Wii has worked gloriously, and likewise, this is the second time my 360 has decided to bitch out on me.

Same thing happened to me and my 360.

So, I went out and got a PS3. Do it. You'll never have to worry about freezes and lights of death or whatever anymore. I couldn't be happier with my decision. The only thing I regret a little is that all my friends have a 360. Most people do as well so I can't play with them online anymore but PS3 Online is free so that made up for it.

I got the collector's edition, so I don't have to worry about Brett Favre on the cover. For $30 more, you get NFL head coach, and I love doing front office stuff almost as much as actually playing, so I figured it was a good deal.

Let me know if it's worth it. I haven't played Head Coach.

It's worth it. I got the same package, and Head Coach is sick.

If EA would just combine Madden's gameplay with the in depth franchise mode of Head Coach, now that would be the sickest NFL game.

Well my advice is to definitely upgrade. Which system is really up to you.

XBox360:

- A lot more people to game with
- Most games on 360 are a little better than PS3 games (even if they are the same game) at this point
- biggest drawback is you have to pay to play online, 360's break a lot, and I hate 360 controller

PS3
- Free online play which is huge (that is why I own a PS3)
- Since you have a PS2, should be an easy transition to PS3.
-Not 100% sure but if you buy a PS3 with more than 40 GB, you can play PS2 games still if you have any you like (occasionally I play Socom Combined Assault, maybe bimonthly).
-biggest drawback is there are less online gamers and the 360 games are better right now.

Now as for you High Def question, this year's Madden and NCAA are not HD on PS3, but they are HD on 360. There are games on PS3 that are HD though and are awesome like MLB The Show 08.

Personally, I would go PS3 (i have one though), but its really up to you and want features are important to you.

Thank you for the detailed advice my friend. I have an HD TV 60' so I would like to play in high def, but a few people on here have mentioned XBox360 freezes up , and I have read other places where it has broken down

Hey BTW I misinformed you a little. Madden 09 on PS3 is in HD, just not 1080. Sometimes I forget, cause my TV only displays 480P and 1080i. Since, I don't have 720p sometimes it slips my mind.

If you have an HD tv that is 720p capable, than you could play Madden 09 on PS3 in HD, just not 1080i or 1080p.

I have played both versions, and really the only difference in the crispness and 1080 capability of 360. IMO, there will be no difference in the Madden 2010 on either system.

I have an XBOX360. PS3, and the Wii. The Wii is only good if you plan on playing with your family. As far as the PS3/360 battle. Me and 3 of my close friends all agree that overall gaming experience XBOX wins. The only thing that the PS3 excels in would be: Graphics (most of the time), Quality of arcade games (though quantity is low), and free online connection (but its free for a reason). The 360 has got a huge online following. Great updates. Lots of extras (arcade, demos, etc) The graphics are always great. I personally prefer the controller to the PS3 but that’s very debatable. Not too mention they have better quality and quantity of games. Much more so than PS3. The only real downside would be life of the 360. Though most issues regarding life of the console were from specific manufacturing dates and should now all be corrected. Also no major reports on the xbox360 elite have come to surface. Price is a big difference as well. If you buy new in comparison to used this is what your looking at:

PlayStation 3 40GB Pack Includes:
PlayStation 3 40GB
DUALSHOCK 3 Controller
Component Cables
$399.99

Xbox 360 Premium System Includes:
Xbox 360 Console
Hard Drive (20 GB)
Wireless Controller
Headset
Ethernet Connectivity Cable
Component HD-AV Cable
Xbox Live Silver membership
$279.99

With the money you save you can buy Madden 09, and NBA 2K9. Also when you register for an email account at hotmail you log on to xbox live and it will offer you a free 30 day gold membership no strings attached. You can keep creating new emails and keep getting 30 day trail memberships. Also you dont get a headset with the PS3 to talk trash.

A cool feature that I don't think has been mentioned yet about the PS3 is that it has its own internet browser. You can check your email or the latest scores right from your PS3. When you're done you can pop in a Blu Ray and watch a nice movie or play a nice high def game. Also, there's a bundle out now and I'm not sure how much longer it's going to be out. It's a 80GB with Metal Gear Solid 4, which is one of the best games on the PS3. With the 80GB you can play your PS2 games. Another feature I don't think has been mentioned yet, the controllers for PS3 are wireless just like the 360 but you don't need to keep using batteries once they run out. They come with a USB that goes right into the PS3 console and they charge themselves while you can play. Basically, the PS3 might be more expensive at first but it is worth it when you think about the future. 80GB to 20GB, free online to a monthly/annual fee, all those batteries to controllers that charge themselves.

Thanks guys,

I think I will go XBOX 360 and saveb the reciept. By the way, do you guys have a league or play against each other on line with either Live or 2K? It would be cool to battle some cats here playing Pacers vs Pacers. We could have different starting lineups and sim who works best. lol

No problem. I'd love to play you online but I don't have my 360 anymore. I couldn't take it anymore so just returned it all together and got a PS3. Speaking of Live and 2k, which one you looking to buy for 09? I'm kinda torn between the two.
