Foster Expects Better Days For Pacers

Post#1 » by greenway84 » Wed Aug 27, 2008 5:00 pm

Pacers' center Jeff Foster believes that better days are ahead for the Pacers, who have missed the playoffs in each of the last two seasons, according to Indianapolis Star.

Good to here that Jeff sounds optimistic about the team I was begeining to wonder if he wanted to be here. Not that hes voiced that. Just I figured he would be fed up.

What's up Pacers fans,

Longtime reader of the board, and an even longer time fan of the team. With all the moves the P's have been making this summer, I haven't been this excited for an unpcoming season to start in a few years. As for the article, I was happy to hear this from Foster as well. A little disturbed that it became so obvious Jermaine was dragging his feet the last couple seasons too. I'm happy Foster is positive, and I wouldn't be surpirsed if we get that 8th seed in the playoffs...

Welcome hitman.

With management being very clear that JT is done and not worrying about JO, there is reason to be excited about next season. We had a thread about what we liked about the current team earlier this summer and it got alot of responses. No one expects us to win a championship, some do not even expect the playoffs (that includes me). With TJ running the point, continued improvement from Dunleavy and Granger, Foster playing for a contract (doubt he needed motivation), and alot of opportunity for guys to make a name in this league, this should be a fun Pacer season to watch.

It will be a fun season, not doubt, but there are going to be lots of hurdles to jump, and I dont expect to make it over them much... I would be happy as long as this team gels, and gets a feel for what each other can do, and look to the next few years to get back into championship contention...

With all due respect to Foster, I honestly dont see him around after the AS break... with his current value, and low risk, I think that we will get some great offers for him... ALOT of teams will look at him as a missing piece, especially out west... I dont think that we have a realistic chance at bringing him back after the season, and I would hate to lose him for nothing...

I don't know about that, I think there's a fairly good chance that Foster sticks around for awhile longer. He's been on the team a long time, there is probably some interest on his part in finishing his career as a Pacer (so long as the locker-room issues get straightened out), and I'm sure the front office would like to keep him. Also, I doubt any other team throws a lot more money at him than the Pacers would be willing to give him--he'd be a credit to any team he played for, but at the end of the day he is still a 31-year-old role player, and I just don't think anyone else is likely to pay him much more than the salary he is getting now from Indiana.

I sure hope he sticks around, he's one of my favorite players. I hope he takes Hibbert under his wing for the next two or three seasons at least.

Maybe Jeff was just trying all these years not to show up Jermaine, and now that JO is in Toronto the Feisty One is all set to unveil his Reggie-like shooting touch?
