Despite losing Gilbert Arenas for the start of the season, the Wizards do not appear to have any interest in Pacers point guard Jamaal Tinsley, according to Indianapolis St

I can't see them pulling the trigger if Arenas will only be out for the first month of the season, it's really not wise for them considering their off season moves.

In the article, Mike Wells says that Golden State has zero interest in Tinsley as well.
The worst-case scenario is playing out here. No other team is going to put themselves on the hook for Tinsley for three years/$20 million. Especially since without a trade, a buyout is inevitable. Bird can talk tough all he wants, but no way is any front office going to pay a guy to stay home for THREE YEARS. Any team that wants Tinsley will just wait for the buyout, then they can have him for a pittance.
So, three more effin' years we have to wait until the Pacers can cross him off their cap space. Oh, and also the Pacers will probably be paying something like 90 percent of Tin Man's salary to play for somebody else.

I'd gladly pay Tinsley to play somewhere else.

not me. its been said many times around here by many of us. a team will have large need for a starting point gaurd at some point this year or at least by next offseason. if bird can stick it out this year teams will realize bird isnt bluffing. i have no problem waiting 1 or 3 years as long as tinsley isnt around the fieldhouse anywhere. im okay with him still being on the roster. he will get traded by the pacers before his contract is up. even if that means waiting until its valuable when it becomes an exp. also i was wondering if tinsley is allowed to play in the d league. i know eddie gill did at some point last year and he been around a while. also i know we would have to pay him but at least he would be playing to where some nba gms could be inticed by him.

again sorry for replying to myself. i was just thinking worst case senario we do eep him until he becomes an exp. thats 2 more years after this one. think about it. Rush, Hibbert, Danny, Ford all geled together plenty of times otgether and expirience. needing that one player to push them over the edge. and another team needing cap space bad. im just looking on the bright side here. i mean the lakers got Gasol for large exp picks and a young prospect. who knows in three years maybe we will have the same type of opprotunity

"Gladly" is not the word I would choose.
Sure, given our options, probably the best outcome is that Tinsley saves the Pacers a little cash by deciding to take a buyout. But how motivated is he to do that? He can spend the next three years sticking $20 million in the G-strings of exotic dancers if he wants to. I'm guessing that he won't accept a buyout unless buyout + NBA vet minimum salary (from his new team) > current salary.
And yeah, he'd probably destroy his next team from within too--if they let him stay long enough to do it. But with minimal salary/time commitment, his next team can give him a quick heave-ho if he starts any nonsense. THE PACERS will still be the ones stuck with the salary commitment for the next three seasons.
Edit/P.S. Greenway, I can't see another team wanting to invest two years/$14 million in Tinsley next summer. The guy's a pariah. Mayyyybe another team might take a chance on him for the last year of his contract, if they are truly desperate. But that's two years from now. Until then, I think the Pacers' options are (1) buyout or (2) trade Tinsley for something as bad or worse in return.

I dont know i think a lot of gms are wanting him now but arent fora few reasons.
Health
Salary
Hope of a buyout
And the fact that you dont want to be the GM that took on Tinsley when everyother Gm "knew" he would have been bought out.
I dont put off court issues on that list. Because there are too many gms that to be honest dont give a damn as long as hes winning games. i mean to be honest we didnt mind artest as much as we do tinsley becaus ehe was a star. teams like heat, warriors, lakers, suns, atlanta, knicks maybe more could afford to take him on either because they have a no non sense coach or because they dont have pr issues. utah, portland are a few teams that are real high on charecter and they wouldnt even look at him. I guess what IM saying is there is a market for tinsley. You have to find a team that fits these requirements
1. not looking at 2010 to save their franchise
2. need pg help
3. arent concerned with pr issues
4. have a more than likely bad contract they want to get rid of.
5. have a gm bold enough to realize that bird isnt bluffing
you find that team and you have our trade partner and yes they are out there.

? Sorry if I don't get it.
I think a good possibility would be Gadzuric straight up. They still need a starting point in my opinion and we are thin a pf except for baston and mcbob(eww). i could see this.

Then I think you're not going to find any teams. There's only about 8 teams in the league with no plans on clearing cap space for 2010, and we're one of those 8 or so. Then, of those other 7, 4 or 5 of them have starting PG's or a project that they're going to want starting in a year or two, ruling them out, and then I don't think there are many GM's of those 2 or 3 teams that
don't care about pr issues.
I think there's just no trade out there. Teams would rather sink with their own bad contracts rather than take on a bad contract that is also a bad teammate and a pariah in the locker room.
If Tinsley can't be traded by training camp, I wholeheartedly believe that he will be bought out. There's just no way you can plan on keeping a guy on your roster for 1-3 years just in a hope that you can trade him later. At some point, you just have to cut your losses and not let him be a shadow on your organization any longer. We can't play him in the D-League unless we buy him out and he SIGNS with the D-League. Tinsley's still going to cause trouble, and he's not going to stay in shape. How easy will it be to trade a 275 pound PG in 2 seasons that has another couple citations or misdemeanor convictions on his record? I think it's absolutely impossible. At that point, you have his contract on the books for 3 years anyway. Why not just buy him out now and not have him waste a roster spot.

then how did patrcik o bryant play in the d league while on the gsw roster?
And i repeat. Bucks fit almost all peramiters of the 5 i listed.
1. They arent looking for 2010 to save their franchise.
- redd, jefferson, bogut are all locked up as long as tinsley(no pun intened)
2. They are needing pg help
- they do have 3 pg but none are starter qaulity
3. They arent concerned with pr issues
- they dont want issues, no, but i dont think tinsley will be an issue for them
4. They have a bad contract
- Gadz
5. Brave enough GM
- This is the one I dont know about
I have never read an article or heard and interview of players saying he was a bad teeam mate or cancer in the locker room. Im not saying he isnt but we dont know that for fact. yes he had off court issues. But Randolph, Howard, Jackson, Artest, Rodman(though in a league of his own), and a lot of other players did too. Some gms just dont worry about that. they get the talent they need and expect the coach and staff to keep them in line. wether or not that works is yet to be seen but thats still some mindsets.
Also not trying to start an arguement by any means so sorry if i came off angry or mad. im not. lol. im not always the best at expressing myself in text.

Ok, I'll admit, I'm worried about this whole thing.
I wanted Tinsley gone a couple years ago when I finally gave up waiting for him to play like did his rookie year once again. Although I'm very much against any kind of buyout, I think we need to start thinking about it. Unless Larry is sitting on a trade and he's trying to get a better one in the process, I don't see us trading him.
Question. I'm sure this has been discussed but, what will a buyout do to our cap in the future?

NBA players can only be sent down to the D-League if they are in the first 2 years in the NBA. Tinsley, not eligible to be sent down.
If Tinsley is bought out, his contract will stay on the cap against us for the full 3 years. If he takes a discount on the buy out (as in, he agrees to give up his contract for less money than he is owed, something he would have to agree with and likely wouldn't), then the cap number that stays on the books is discounted for us.

A few months back, Bob Kravitz (sports writer for the star) was interviewing Obie. Kravitz said he would personally WALK to Terre Haute if Jamaal Tinsley was still on the team. Obie laughing added that he would do the same if Tinsley was still on the roster too by the seasons start. Kravitz has randomly talked about it lately, and he is somewhat worried. If I was him, I would be too because thats one hell of a walk from Indianapolis to Terre Haute.

checkout his radio show
http://www.1070thefan.com/pretty good show. I'm not a big fan of Eddie, but for the longest time I used to think Kravitz was a moron until I started listening to his radio show. For the most part, they talk about local sports which is what I want to hear. Not sure who your NFL team is but lots of Colts and Pacer talk, more Colts right now. I used to listening to 1260 and 950, but hardly ever anymore. Usually listen to the Herd and Kravitz.

Yeah, Matt Steinmetz was really just throwing that trade out there. All it did was stir up a lot of realgm talk.
