Just a heads up, traded to the Nuggets for Steven Hunter and Chucky Atkins.

This is a terrific trade for the Pacers.

They had a PG glut... and a PG who wasn't good anymore with a gut, who they've now just traded.

Atkins and Hunter's contract run out in '10 whereas Tinsley's expires in '11.

Terrific from a Pacers standpoint,really.

Wooo! We even get a year off his contract?! This is awesome, even if they don't play a minute all year. I can see some hacick being caused by Tinsley and some of those Nuggs players. I think they might do a bit of gardening and growing... During halftime they better have some cheetos and pizza rolls.

Very nice... this is a trade I had thought about l/y, but who hasn't thought of some way to get rid of Jamaal. He still has to pass a physical, which could be a dangerous obstacle considering who we're talking about.

Two for one, tho. So unless we're making another deal in the next few weeks, we're gonna have to release someone. Sorry Stephen, Maceo, and possibly Josh. Larry may be able to move some players for picks or cash considerations.

Does anybody know their contracts? Is Chucky #3 or is Diener?

I would think Chucky would likely be bought out if any of our PG's would be. He's an expiring, and likely wouldn't figure into future plans.

Unless Diener's foot is in much worse shape, Diener's going to be our emergency PG, not Atkins.

Though, we could see Daniels possibly on the bubble now, as Jack could now step up to the 2 guard spot more often, and we still have Rush and Williams at the 2 and 3 spots. Where is Daniels going to play once Rush works his way into the rotation?

I'm thinking Daniels and McRoberts could be in trouble, with Baston and Croshere then playing for the final spot.

I'm still holding my excitement until I see other confirmation, especially since Jamaal would have to pass a physical.

As Wizop pointed out on the trade board, Mike Wells is reporting that no matter what the NY Post is reporting, there is no deal right now.

http://blogs.indystar.com/pacersinsider ... _deal.html
Mike Wells wrote:I've talked to a couple people - one from the Pacers camp and another from the Nuggets camp - this morning and both sides say point guard Jamaal Tinsley has not been traded to Denver for point guard Chucky Atkins and center Steven Hunter as reported by the New York Post.

The deal, if true, would have pushed the Pacers roster up to 17 players.

The Pacers have talked to the Nuggets, along with just about every other team in the NBA, about Tinsley, but they've yet to be able to come up with a deal.

Remember, it is Peter Vescey reporting the deal. We generally dismiss everything he says out of hand.

Nevermind.... Wells just reported that he talked to the Pacers camp and the Nuggets camp and nothing was in place. They just talked just like every other team.

I got a text from ESPN saying the trade went down, but when I think about it, it may have said account to the NY Post.

ESPN & SI are citing the Post as the source.

In the interest of full disclosure, I adjusted the title of the thread. I think there may be some substance in this deal still, but I wanted to make the uncertainty clear.

Thanks to Flite for the OP & link. It was a good faith post, and I am still hopeful something comes of this.
I have no idea what you're talking about, and clearly, neither do you.

If the deal goes through, we'd be at about $35.2 million in committed salaries next year without factoring in Granger and Jack's cap holds. Granger and Jack would combine in about $13 million in cap holds, I believe. Foster would be about $6.6 million. My numbers may be a bit off. That would leave us with roughly $54.8 million in "commitments" going into the offseason.

this is being reported on tons of websites but they're all citing The Post as the source. I found this one pretty funny...

It should be noted that Atkins recently underwent knee surgery, and isn’t expected back on the court for another month or so. He could have gotten his leg amputated and the Pacers would have probably still pulled the trigger on this deal.

JT would have to pass a physical, so anyone from the Pacers or Nuggets are going to deny anything until the results are in.

There are times when Peter Vescey just writes things to see what reaction he gets, but I believe this one. He had very good information coming from DW and usually right on target with any Pacer information. Not for sure if he still has contacts, but think there is nothing for him to gain by printing a lie.

I'll be glad the day when Tinsley is finally out of our hands. It looks like it's coming very, very soon, whether this deal gets done or not. I see us dishing out more players than we accept though.

I'm hoping and dreaming that the only thing holding up the deal is that Indy is trying to send some other contracts out to other teams in the deal as well (I'm thinking McRoberts or Baston in this case, since we're getting another PF/C back in Hunter).

I wouldn't even care if we just cut Baston and Atkins. Get the deal done.
