Pacers vs. Cleveland 11/7

Post#1 » by Miller4ever » Sat Nov 8, 2008 12:51 am

Didn't see a game thread. So here it is. Less than 5 minutes in, we're up by 10. Granger is on pace for 70 points.

Granger is on at the beginning, same thing has happened multiple games. He is playing like an all star.

Once again, Obie reverts to the "We have a 10 point lead, everyone shoot jumpers in the first 3 seconds of play clock." Every run the other team has gone on, has always been when we stop trying to take it to the hole.

We've been taking it to the hole, just turnovers.

This has been the same story in our other games. Build a lead, then have no idea how to score anymore. Hope we put it together.

Diener is a train wreck running the offense, he is completely worthless aside from the open 3.

We are awesome on cutters. Got to keep going to those when it gets tough to score.

This is the first game this year where Rush looks like an NBA player.

someone please tell to Brandon Rush to stop shooting!!!

I 'm not watching the game, so maybe it's unfair, but he needs to control himself...against Boston he had a terrible FG too...

And I can't understand O'Brien rotation, when someone is playing well, he takes the guy out of the game...

Granger 21 at the half. All Star in all the games. Obie shouldn't take him out. He stays out way too much, and when he comes back in he doesn't attack.

Our players need to get him the ball more. There are stretches he gets no touches.

Daniels shouldn't shoot tough 3's. Only wide wide open, and jumpers in mid range, mostly on the move.

Every time I watch Jack, I don't see a whole lot of value from him.

Hibbert and Rush are playing better than they have all year. They still aren't great, but improvement is improvement. They looked completely lost the first few games, this game they just look mediocre which is a HUGE improvement.

Ford playing very well.

Foster moving well. Murphy is scared of his 3 point shot since they didn't fall much last game, and he's already missed one. Faked quite a few midway, like he wanted to take it, but changed his mind late.

Uhh. Yeah.

Also, a big change is rebounding. Last game we couldn't rebound anything. This time, Hibbert isn't just letting people take rebounds from him.

Another game where we played well for about 44 minutes. Damn.

Quisy was flirting with a triple-double. He is going insane in the good way. I think he deserves to stay. Who's with me?

I'm with you. We really need to learn how to keep a damn lead. Also, a little bit of defense might be a good idea from time to time. Tonight really aggrevated me. I hate losing games we should win, and the last two games I really felt like we should have won.

Rush looks tentative. He looks like he is (pardon the pun) in a rush to do something with the ball when he gets it. Hibbert looked good, but for the second straight game I cant help but think Rasho would have been a big help.

I think you guys are over reacting. We've played all great teams, and we beat 1, and could have won the other 3.

What's the problem? We have a rebuilding team that can compete well, and you can see improving each game.

I'm with notque on this one. I have been very satisfied with our play, and we did beat the Celtics. Mind you, Dunleavy's not back yet, either. If the logic is that he will make us better, I honestly wouldn't be surprised if we cracked .500 this year. It's a stretch for sure, but circumstances are in our favor now. Man, Kool-aid tastes so refreshing.

I agree. We played some great teams already. The best three in the east probably and a super Amare, who is the kind of pf who will always hurt us with his athleticism. And the losses we had, were always pretty close.

Cavs fan here. Great game last night. Incredibly entertaining throughout. Couple things I wanted to mention to you guys....

--Danny Granger is a scoring machine. I knew he was a pretty good, but I had no idea that he had developed into such a great scorer. His jumper is so smooth and he barely needs any space at all to get it off. He even got into LeBron's head in the 4th quarter and got LeBron to take a few ill-advised long jumpers (luckily he made one deep three, his only made three of the year actually). Granger doesn't appear to do a whole lot else besides score right now, but the name of the game is scoring more points then the other team and you guys certainly have a guy that can get you 20-30 points every single night very efficiently.

--Marquis Daniels is just a solid player. He hustles, he rebounds, he defends, he's improved his mid-range game. Every time the Cavs went on a run, Daniels would be one of the guys to end the run with an offensive rebound put back or a nice pass for a layup. I'm not sure what O'Brien has planned when Dunleavy Jr comes back (what's his status anyway?), but as far as I'm concerned from an outsider's perspective, you guys have to continue to find consistent minutes and shots for Daniels even if it means at the expense of Rush.

--Roy Hibbert looks like a completely different player from the guy I watched a bunch at Georgetown. I don't know for sure, but it certainly appears he lost a lot of weight. He was moving around well down there and giving our bigs hell on the glass all night. As a matter of fact, I'd like to give your entire team credit for the rebounding. The Cavaliers had not been out rebounded once this year and hadn't been out rebounded at all since April 11th of last year. You guys straight up out hustled us and out worked us for pretty much 3.25 quarters. If this game had been played in Indiana, the Cavs were probably staring at a double digit loss.

Anyway, that's all I got. You guys have to have played the most difficult schedule in the league so far. 3 against the three best teams in the East, and one against a West playoff team. If you guys can not get discouraged at the losses and take advantage of some of the weaker non-playoff teams on your schedule, you guys have a realistic shot at sneaking into the playoffs.

Good luck, until we meet again!

Thanks, man. We're frustrated to be 1-3, but glad we competed.

I don't know if Roy's lost weight so much as he got into much better shape. Our roster lists him at 278, and DraftExpress listed him at 272, but there's no question he's in much better shape now than he was as a senior. He's be a very pleasant surprise for us.
I have no idea what you're talking about, and clearly, neither do you.

Return to Indiana Pacers
