Warriors fan here but I have been watching Marquis Daniels from his days in Dallas.
This kid can play and he showed it this year finally.

Here is his stats:
FG% 3p% FT% OFF DEF RPG APG SPG BPG TO PF PPG
0.451 0.162 0.744 1.9 4.3 6.1 2.1 0.9 0.5 1.80 2.60 15.8

Most importantly, he picked up what Mike Dunleavy's stack and I see him improving.

I knew Marquis had it in him, I'm surprised it took him this long to show it. With Rasho, Daniels, and Jack all potential FA's, it will be interesting to see what we do.

Well we better sign Daniels over any of those guys. He helps the team out more than any of them. I like the other 2 but we need Daniels.

If Dunleavy cannot play permanently, I think signing Daniels is a no brainer.

By the way, how's Jack doing? You guys think he can be a legit starting point guard for the Warriors?

No, Jack cannot be a legit starting point guard for anyone. He is what he is--a solid backup who plays defense and makes questionable decisions.

As for the three free agents, I'd say we probably resign Jack (assuming its a low cost deal) and we let the other two walk. Daniels has been a pleasant surprise, but with Dunleavy back and Rush developing, there really isnt a place for him next year. Besides, if we wanted to keep him, we have a $7.4 million option on him for next season which we'd likely exercise.

He did solid tonight again. Sure let Daniels walks? I rather let Rush and Jack walk.

Daniels needs to be here. He is a solid player, it would be stupid to let him walk. Dunleavy wont do anything this year, im not saying that bc i hate him, i just dont see him doing as good as Marquis on this team.

Yeah, let Daniels walk. Look, if we were winning games with him starting, then thats one thing...but we arent. He posts nice stats and does a lot of nice things, but he doesnt fit into our plans. Bird loves Dunleavy, and the team performs better with him because he is a superior player. We used a lottery pick to get an NBA ready guy who plays the same position as Daniels, and next year I see him as an upgrade, so again, where does Marquis fit? Why pay a guy $6-8 million a year to be a backup when we have other holes to fill? Besides, if you watch these games, you'll notice that having a shooting guard who shoots like 16% on threes is a hindrance to our offense. I like him, and he has been great this year, but I think we let him walk no question.

^Agreed, it's not that it would be a bad decision for the value, but we are already looking at extensions signed by Foster and Granger. Of course Marquis knows this, and probably thinks he is playing for his next contract. It will be extremely difficult to take on the $7.1m if we're alrerady stretched, regardless of how he is playing.

Rush and Dunleavy are the future herem atleast in the short term picture anyway.

We should definitely consider signing Quis to a subtle 4yr. 18 mill. The perception is that contract year players play with a sense of urgency, motivated by greed. Although I don't think Quis fits the mode. Either way, if someone offers him a starting position to go along with starter money I'd be happy for him. Unfortunately we can only afford him as a backup.

Daniels has been a pleasant surprise so far, but I'm still thinking Rush is the team's long-term plan for a starting two guard. I'm not sure I'd want to see us re-sign Quis, unless he can be brought back for a non-starter's salary.

I'm more curious about what he might fetch at the midseason trade deadline than I am about re-signing him. But I can understand why some of you would like to see the Pacers sign him to another contract, he's earned that kind of support so far this season.

Daniels is decent

i've actually seen him play in high school (edgewater), they won states that year.

he's quick and athletic i just dont think he has good basketball IQ. Example: this last game when he had the missed layup at the last second he should've layed it up off the glass. Intangibles like that is what keeping Marquis Daniels from becoming a good player
