OT Credit. Why is it so hard to give us some?

Post#1 » by HicksvsKnicks08 » Wed Dec 3, 2008 5:16 pm

That's what happens when you put yourself in a position against a team that we should have beat by 10 or more points,"
Lamar Odom

let a bad team stick around long enough, and bad things will happen
Mike Bresnahan

Is anyone else getting a little tired of lines like this? It's amazing, and yes I realize it's not a big deal, but everytime we have beaten a Boston/LA or simmmilar it's comments like this that get under my skin. Whether its the beat writers or the opponents forum on RealGM the talk is the same

Its always " The Lakers gave this one away"
"Boston took them for granted"
"Should have beat this team by 15 "

Never is their an acknowledgment by the opposing fans or local media that..........................

Gee maybe the Pacers actually played a good game and are talented? I know its seems small but......

Anyone else kinda peeved by this?

Thoughts?

Let them keep on thinking like this. Let them bring in cocky attitudes when they line up across from the understated Pacers during the anthem, already assuming that the result is a W. Let them come in with incredible swagger, with inflated egos.

We let our play do the talking.

I'll take wins over credit every time.
I have no idea what you're talking about, and clearly, neither do you.

We don't get enough credit because we have been inconsistent this season. We beat arguably the league's best teams, yet we lose to Charlotte and drop games where we were up by 15 or more.

Alot of it is you have to earn respect from other teams, lets face it the last few years its been a disaster here. I think people are starting to take note of the new attitude and good young team we have now.

I watch Raptors and Pacers game and last night the broadcasters from Toronto went on for about 5minutes about how good Danny Granger is and what a talented team Indiana has. They said the Pacers could be the only team that beats LA and Boston this year ( a good point ).

So I think we will see less and less of the disrespectful comments as this team goes forward.

Fox,

Guess I should have clarified. I meant not credit that we are a good basketball team, but credit for winning the actual game. Instead of "that the other team didnt care, or were tired, or had an "off night"

make sense?

Teams like Boston and L.A. will always have attitudes like this. It's that very reason that Boston nearly got knocked out of the playoffs by a team that won less than 40 regular season games last season. They talk all this big ish now but as soon as their team starts to go south or things get a little shaky they're the first ones to make some comment like "there's a lot of really good teams in this league, you can never look past anyone (insert team here) has a lot of talent and they've got everything to prove". I'm fine with our team doing just what we do, because the only thing that needs to be said to those players and their fans at the end of the game is very simple, yet very powerful "SCOREBOARD!"

As a Celtics fan I respect you.

Doc Rivers respects you too: "Give them credit. If you look at their losses, they've lost more games at the buzzer than any team in the league... Indiana is very good. I think they will be a playoff team. They've just lost heartbreaking games, and eventually the basketball gods will turn their way. And when that happens, they'll be a good team."

Once you get some consistency and experience the wins will come, and with that, respect.

I don't see it with Boston so much, but LA is full of pompous morons who think they're the greatest thing since sliced bread. Phil gets way more credit than he's due because he has had an MVP cantidate since God was a kid, Kobe's a great player that might be as great as he thinks he is once he stops thinking so, and past that nobody on that team even deserves a response. We're exactly where everyone expected us to be this year, we're playing without our leading scorer, and we're losing games in which we hold huge leads. I've been impressed with how we've played. If the Lakers want to prove how little they know about the rest of the league, let them shoot their mouths off. The best way to treat them is the same as you treat the crazy guy in the street asking for money... walk on by like nothing ever happened and let them go on living in their own crazy little worlds.

No, Berklee College of Music. It's not Cal, but here's a short list of alumni

Quincy Jones
Diane Krall
Hans Zimmer
Roy Hargrove

Berklee is one of the top music schools in the world, and perhaps the #1 in all contemporary styles. No other school has as many grammy-winning alums. I'm not saying I'm getting a Grammy or anything lofty like Quincy Jones, but unlike other music students, I have a better chance at a successful career in music.

I love hip-hop, but I think jazz won't make a comeback, it'll just live on as part of the soul of newer music. Many good artists who people believe sound "unique" are avid jazz listeners. I've played hoops with Wynton Marsalis, (draining both of my 2 field-goal attempts) and I've also taken lessons from a bunch of guys. A newer artist I think will carry the torch of jazz today is Taylor Eigsti, who you've gotta check out.

Respect comes with winning on a consistent basis. It is impressive that the Pacers have played very competitive in the 4 games against the Lakers and Celtics, however, we still are 7-12 and still are near the bottom of the East. These games are very good to Indiana fans, as it shows a future and gives us hope for what is to come later this season, but national media won't pick up on it, and neither should our opponents. We've beat teams we shouldn't have beat, but we've lost to teams we should have beat. It is a good learning experience for our team. I don't think we'll see any respect for a while though.
