Quis for Most Improved Player?

I know it's early in the season, but Marquis has stepped up big time in the absence of Mike, and I think if he continues to play this solid he definitely deserves some recognition and at least should be a candidate for most improved player.

That conversation starts and ends with Devin Harris.

How is he being bias? He's a Pacers fan. But i agree with him. Devin Harris should run away with the MIP award. The guy is averaging 24ppg for gods sake.

I was interpreting that I wanted him to be biased, u know....for maqruis. I want marquis to at least be a candidate.

I think the discussion should start and end with who is more surprising? I'm not taking anything away from Devin Harris who is playing like a man, but who saw Queezy coming? Did anyone say hey man I am glad we have this guy? or were you thinking he'd get buried on the bench until we moved his expiring salary or let his contract run up? When we drafted Brandon Rush I was sure Queezy's run was over. A bone spur in Dunleavy's knee later and Queezy is looking like a solid baller.
I think he has an outside shot because of the shock factor.

To be surprising, you need to be noticed. Nobody is noticing anybody on the Pacers. Dunleavy wasn't an MIP candidate last year, Quisy isn't one this year. Quite frankly, other guys get talked about so much more.

Its not an award for "Most Surprising Player", and besides, Marquis has been good before. He earned his current contract for good play in Dallas. Did we see it coming? No, he was an afterthought for us with Dunleavy the penciled in starter at the 2 with our lottery pick rookie backing him up. Marquis was an expiring contract to us like you said. With Dunleavy out though, you either start a rookie (not something teams contending for playoff spots make a habit out of doing, save for elite rookies), or start the wily veteran who is productive when healthy.
To me, the "Most Improved Player", goes to a guy who is young and made the leap to the next level, or to a guy who hasnt had a good opportunity to show what he can do. Using that criteria, I'd think Devin Harris has to be the runaway favorite for the award, with a special mention to Andris Biedrins.

It's not that surprising at all. He has always had this sort of talent in him. IQ and PT have been his downfall. I, not for one second, didn't think he had it in him. I'm all with cdash though, there is absolutely no way anyone can eclipse what Devin Harris has done, there won't even be a vote.

Well it's still early, so we'll see if Harris can keep this up. Then when/if Dunleavy comes back, Marquis' minutes might take a hit and so would his claim for MIP. There's a lot of factors still in play because it's so early. Who knows, maybe someone else we're not mentioning now starts heating up later in the season.

If Quisey improves his outside shooting, there would be more of a chance of him being considered.

Harris is running away with it right now, I would put Daniels in the same category as Spencer Hawes, John Salmons and Nate Robinson. Still I love what Daniels has brought this year, Larry has some decisions to make when Dunleavy comes back.

No he doesnt. Dunleavy is the guy when he comes back, no question.

It's okay for Quis to be on the bench. I think he's already proven what he needs to in terms of his contract year performance, and with him bringing his spark off the bench, it'll make our second unit that much better. With Dunleavy back, it's not just an upgrade to our starting lineup; it's a HUGE upgrade for our bench. We'll have one of the deepest and best benches when Dunleavy comes back (if that ever happens this season).

Just like last season, the NBA is going to give it to some sophmore player ( someone that is SUPPOSED TO IMPROVE ) instead of someone that actually deserves it ( see Dunleavy JR ).

Hedo Turkoglu won it last season. He was not a sophomore, and he actually did deserve it.

As been expressed before: the trophy goes to the player on a team that is sort of winning. Dunleavy was better candidate last year than Quisy now as he could also make the team to win games.
Just like the mvp trophy only goes to the player of a team that is a top three team.
It's all related.

Sorry, you're right...I should have been more clear. I was referring to the voting and who they chose to vote for. There were sophmore players last season that got more votes then Dunleavy did.

Yeah I agree the voters generally tend to go in that direction.
