Conspiracy Theory

DISCLAIMER: I do not think the theory below carries any weight, but this was the nightmare I had last night. This is the stupidest possible year to tank, with a not-so-good draft class. So without further ado...
The Pacers organization is purposely losing close games. Defense is lax because the front office wants it so. The season is dedicated to getting a lottery draft pick to make up for the Brandon Rush "mistake". Obie is being paid under the table to draw up plays for the cold, fresh-off-an-injury Dunleavy against the Warriors. The refs were paid to call an insubordinate amount of fouls on Danny Granger against the Lakers, even though no one was playing defense. Anytime the Pacers fall below 12 points behind, the players are allowed to play to their full potential. Roy Hibbert is not playing more than 12 minutes a game for fear of having him get a double-double. The Pacers are purposely utilizing their four-white men + Granger lineup (Diener, Dunleavy, Granger, Murphy, Foster). Against the Magic Rasho Nesterovic laid it up REALLY slow to let Dwight Howard block him in the last second. The buzzer-beater against Phoenix was just to not let Pacers fans feel too bad, and keep them coming to home games. When the Pacers beat the Celtics early on, it was only a test of Pacers superpowers, and since then they've only been using 70% full strength against all teams. Larry Bird was replaced by an alien.

A much better explanation: our team sucks at drafting players, only gets every other 1st round pick right (granger was right, wiliiams was wrong, Bayless was right, rush was wrong, and hibbert was right), our team sucks in general, and we need another lottery pick to right the ship.

...and T.J. Ford is sabotaging the team with his "injuries".

Hey i don't wanna say it either, but i won't disagree:
Obie: "Nice work Danny, getting 10 points in 5 minutes was awesome, we're on level terms now. So i think you've earned a rest..........for the next 15 minutes!!!!"
Totally agree about it being the wrong season to do it in, but here's hoping they at least have a plan in place for the draft.

WOW .... that must have been one f---ked up dream. Thank god you arent a OKC fan or you might have gone nuts, probably turn into one of the conspiracy's theory manics with numbers and charts hanging on your wall that explain every basket ball move ever made by your team, you would probably end up in a mental institution and five years later they would find out that you wore right all along but by the time they got to your cell they find you dead on the floor with a message made out of your own feces that states a unbelievable undercover ploy created by the NBA to brainwash all its fans into the apocalypse .....WOW just WOW

I don't think its a conspiracy theory at all, I think its a fact. I'm not even joking when I say tanking is the only explanation to O'Brien's coaching decisions. He subs out players who are playing well, he puts our team in awful matchup positions, he doesn't teach defense - at all, and he has draw 1 last second play that has worked all year long. I'm not even sure you can call a simple screen a play, had we played a half way decent defense that game I'm sure we woulda seen another failed attempt at a last second shot. The fact is, his last second plays never look effective, we have actually turned it over many times on his drawn plays, or the play consists of the PG going one on one. Which leaves me to this conclusion:
1. O'Brien is the dumbest coach in the history of sports and is not capable of coaching a middle school girls basketball team.
or
2. We are tanking.
Now, I don't think O'Brien would have gotten the job if he was a total moron, so the only logical explanation is that he and Bird had a talk, and decided to tank.

Sounds more like a wet dream to me. Definitely not a nightmare.
Our coach is just that bad at coaching, our GM is just that bad at drafting and trading, our pg is just that injury prone, our big guys are just that slow, our defense is nowhere at times...
If they were all faking it, it would be great!

I wouldnt say its impossible about Obrien but as far as the Refs that is simply not true.
I dont mind if Obrien is losing us games right now, lets be honest we are not competing for a championship this year so why not get a better lottery pick? If we didnt have that hot stretch last year we could have got Brook Lopez instead in of Bayless.
I als think there are some flaws in your logic about us deciding to tank the whole season becuase of the draft pick we just picked? So basically your saying we traded for a rookie and then said we have to tank becuase he is no good? I dont think thats exactly how it went down.
I agree about Hibbert though, I see no reason not to play him. He struggles at times defensively but so does the whole damn team and unlike the rest of our big man HIbbert actually has potential to be a good defender.

HIbbert has never been a force defensively, even in college. I doubt he will be anything greater than average in the pros. He'll block a few shots based on sheer length, thats for sure, but as for actual defense, don't expect him to be great.

I think its a bit early to be calling Rush a mistake.

I'm remaining optimistic with him. Mind you i'd like him to be more productive with his floor time. His game will come around, i did expect a little more from the guy at this point though.

Rush still might come around. He obviously needs to get comfortable with the speed of the game. But you still have to like the fact he can play defense and seems to have a nice stroke, which leads me to believe he'll be productive. To me he has a lot more potential than another similar pick of ours ( Fred Jones).
