Ok, so here's the deal with this thread. As many of you know, the Pacers are probably looking for a lottery pick next draft day. So, i've started a thread, where we can discuss all the possible future Indiana Pacers as they play out their college careers. Discuss these and other players. I will be updating the first post through out the season as more games are played and i will add or subtract prospects as we move forward and we get a stronger idea of who the Indiana Pacers will select in the 2009 Draft.

I'm not a big fan of Hill. However, that said, if the draft order was just like that, i have a very hard time believing that OKA City would select Greg Monroe, Kings to select Thabeet and Clippers who just selected Eric Gordon to select Holiday, who is basically a very similar player.

I would take Hill in a heartbeat. He's just what we need...a back-to-the-basket PF who can play defense and finish around the rim. The only thing I question is if he's strong enough to play with KG and Duncan but he fits the mold of an ideal PF, one that can run and shoot. Outside of Monroe and Griffin he's our best bet.

Probably will never happen, but we should also trade for another lottery pick to select DeRozan...even if it takes giving up Dunleavy. At least he can sell tickets!!!

Nice job with the thread Grang33r. Maybe change the title to Draft Prospects Watch though? Since there is a slight possibility the Pacers could go for someone like Brandon Jennings. For now, I'd like to see all draft chatter go here until we get a little closer, but I think this has the makings of a very active thread.

Add Cole Aldrich. I think he is the guy we need to take. Good athleticism, post moves, and i'm not sure how he is on defense but i'm sure with his athleticism and height (6'11) he has some potential in that area.

Whens the last time a white guy who didn't play PG or C make the All-Star game?

I'm not saying we are going to draft an All-Star or a player of that caliber would even be available, but I'd like to have a guy with that potential. Aldrich just doesn't have it. We would have wasted a very valuable pick if we select a guy like Aldrich or Patterson in the lottery.

Dirk Nowitzki?

Jordan Hil seems like a laid-back guy, which I think is cool, because we have good leadership now, around Granger. I'm not sure if this is the year to go for a PF, though. Maybe via trade we could shift some things around and get a young PF.

It took me 6 tries to get the #3 pick... we went with Greg Monroe. A couple clicks later we got #2 and picked Greg Monroe.

And with the #1 pick, in the 2009 NBA Draft, the Indiana Pacers select: Blake Griffin, Oklahoma University.

Some of these I am see Brandon Jennings fall to 14. I wonder if he did fall that far if we would try and make a trade. He could be a star. I was hoping/praying last year the Jerryd Bayless would fall to us.... Oooh the excitement of draft night. I also wouldn't mind BJ Mullens and am a fan of Chase Budinger (nbadraft.com has us getting him 8th, but espn doesn't have him in the lottery).

Some 2nd rounders I like (if they were to make it to us) are AJ Price, Dionte Christmas, Jeff Pendergraph, and even later on Greivis Vasquez and Jeremy Pargo.

And what happened to Indiana-native Dominic James? He wasn't even one of nbadraft.com's 60 players picked. A couple years ago he was almost a guaranteed 1st rounder, wasn't he? He at least was expected to get drafted, I guess that is one example of how leaving early is better than staying (at least draft wise).

Does anybody know if Harangody is entering this year? Thanks.

I'm pretty sure he is, nothing is official, but i'd stay away from the guy. I just think he's an above average college player that doesn't transform well into the NBA.

I'd like to see us get Hill if that's where we're drafting but Steven Curry would be hard to pass up. if we could make some moves and get 2 top 10 picks I'd go for Curry and Hill, unless Thabeet or Monroe drops to us.

To tell you the truth, IF we did somehow land a 2nd top 10 pick, which is as near as impossible, but going with your point and assuming we did, i'd much prefer packaging both of those picks and grabbing a top 3 pick for Greg Monroe, or Ricky Rubio, if he drops a few spots to 3rd or 4th.

I don't want him for the Pacers, but for the NBA, if you know what I mean. Thinking about him, McBob, Trophy, Feisty, and Rasho in the logjam in the post...it's beautiful.

I really like Ricky Rubio, but I don't know how good of a fit for the Pacers he is. We already have TJ, another fast, agile point guard.

EDIT: If we had the chance to get him though, then YES, YES, YES!

I am actually pretty sure he is staying. If he went this year, he'd be very lucky to be a first-round pick, and most likely be a mid-2nd rounder from what I've heard. I have met him a few times because I have high school friends that went to Notre Dame and are now friends with him. He has said he is staying. I am sure if he is the player of the year and his stock rises and he looks to be a first round pick, then I can't see how he could stay. But I would bet he stays.

I'm not sure if Ford's the answer at PG long-term. His health is indicating that he's not. However, a platoon of Jack and him is much better than anything we've had previously. I think a pretty cool scenario would be if the Pacers drafted Rubio, held him in Europe for 3 seasons, and then brought him over when Ford's contract runs out.

Besides the obvious in Blake Griffin, I like Monroe, Hill, Rubio, and Curry a lot for the Pacers.
