Chad Ford's Trade Watch: Marquis Daniels

Marquis Daniels, Pacers
Daniels is one of the more under-the-radar trade prospects on this list. He is having one of the best seasons of his career, and he has a team option on his contract, which, in essence, is an expiring contract. With Mike Dunleavy now back from injury and rookie Brandon Rush waiting in the wings, Daniels is expendable.
Daniels' appeal is two-fold. Not only can he help a team now, but he represents no long-term risk. For that reason, a number of GMs I spoke with listed Daniels as a player they have some interest in. I doubt the Pacers would mind packaging him, along with one of their other expiring contracts, if it could land them a young big man to pair with Danny Granger.
Chance of trade: 40 percent

I don't think he is talking about anyone in particular, he's not saying a trade is being discussed, just that we wouldn't mind trading him if the right deal came along.

Ford said he spoke to a number of GMs who have shown interest in Daniels. So atleast he simplify the list of possible players.

I'd love if we could pry Paul Millsap from the Jazz (we'd have to take a bad contract). They have to make a decision whether to keep Boozer or Millsap anyway so they could atleast pick up a good player if they choose to stick with Boozer (doubt they will). Problem is they don't have anyone with a bad contract. More than half their roster are just expirers or 2 year deals so that makes it hard to get Millsap from them. We'd probably have to throw someone like Rush in the deal to get them to bite.

We aren't getting Millsap for Daniels.

The question is going to be is Pacer management going to take on additional salary after this year. Rasho and Quis represent a pretty big drop in salary, freeing up dollars to account for Danny's extention along with any other signings. I would be surprised if there is a cheap big man that could be had for an expiring contract of a slightly above average player.

I dont know if Charlotte is looking to move Diaw, or if they even can, seeing as how they just acquired him a month or so ago.
I like the idea of getting Udonis Haslem though. I wish the Heat would wise up and trade Haslem for Tinsley.
