Denver...

Post#1 » by FortWayneFlash » Mon Feb 2, 2009 4:26 am

The Nuggets have cut 20M of salary, got BETTER and lead their division. We need to do the same; get rid of Tinsley...

The reason they got better is because they traded Iverson for Billups, which will actually cost them more money in the long run. Think how good they would be had they kept Camby instead of giving him away?

Didn't we just trade the fourth highest salary, not too mention most overpaid player in the league?

We're on the right track it's just the Pacers didn't have the same fortunes as Denver pertaining to their years of absolutely horrendous play that rewarded them with high lottery picks. While they were busy competing with the Clippers, Hawks and Warriors for the #1 pick, we were competing in the playoffs. How do you think they got Melo? Because they sucked and Dumars absolutely jacked it way off.

Needless to say, Joe Jacked it off again when he gave Billups back to the Nuggz. Is it possible for Dumars to win GM of the year for the Nuggets?

Maybe I'm wrong, but I think Denver has been in the playoffs the past five years. Am I mistaken?

Ok, if they made the playoffs the past five years then it proves they were not that bad to start with. They also did it in the West.

They cut 20M, but half of that is in luxury tax payments. Billups is the only person they have taken back in dropping most of the salary. If we subract anyone from the Pacer lineup, there is no one waiting to fill those minutes. Camby was an easy departure with Nene ready to play a more significant role.

This team needed to rebuild the correct way and this year was a good start. Give it some time, but do not think we can magically cut 20M in salary and be a title contender. I am very happy with watching this years team over any of the JO teams.

CF is spot-on. They had better depth, capable players waiting in the wings.

Besides, my point was kind of circling around the fact they finally have stability after years and years of futile progress. Not really the model of conistency one values.

Denver is the infiniely more talented team, htey have much more tradable contracts, and their players are actually good, unlike we are. I can't see how this comparison is valid

Agreed with the most pessimistic Pacer "fan" on the planet. The comparison is not valid.

You guys make some valid points, but are inaccurate when it is said that half of the 20M was tax money. Not the case. They were at about 90M when the summer started and now are at about 70M. I am impressed when a playoff team cuts 20M and ends up BETTER in the win-loss column. I realize it's not easy but wish we could do something like that with Tinsley and JO; that's all. Peace.

BTW; their GM is a Fort Wayne native.

^^ First of, welcome to the forum! It's always good to see new people on the forum, especially people who bring up topics and have ideas. Hope you stay around and talk more basketball with us! If you have any questions, feel free to ask.

Back to the topic- The major reason for the Denver Nuggets success is the emergence of Nene and getting a leader like Billups instead of a ball hog like Iverson. Nene is healthy and playing like an All-Star and many believe he should be at the All-Star game this season even. And Billups, is a leader, plays defense and can pass the ball around, unlike Iverson who kept it.

The problem is,we can't get a 2nd round pick for Tinsley, which they got for Camby. Hell, we'd have to give away our first.

AI for Billups made sense for both teams. But who here is going to give up a player that makes Troy's salary? I mean, we could do Murphy for Parker, Dunleavy for Ginobili, but who would do that? Dunleavy for AI2.0, Granger?

wow this guy really has commitment issues with which team hes supporting doesn't he?
Once they have that golden shining moment and it comes to them in a dream or whatever and they understand that, that's when this team and this franchise will go to another level from where it was when I was here.
