My Dream Tradeline day scenarios

OK. As many of you have read I really like the trade deadline and want a lot of trades to go down that just won't happen. I read you advice and how dumb you think I am, but then I say to myself, "My mom says I am dumb too, but do I listen to her? No, I will dream all I want and then I will type the nonsense for all to read!" Anyways, here is my plan to get the Pacers to be contenders by, say, 2012. Please make fun of me all you'd like after this. I will still dream every trade deadline and draft day no matter what you say.
Trade 1 (2 parts):
The Suns aren't going to win an NBA Championship this year. They just got a new coach, have a huge payroll, and their owner doesn't want to pay the luxury tax. If they keep Shaq they will have to pay around $42million for his salary and luxury tax. He doesn't fit in if they get go even more up-tempo like Nash (and the new coach) want to.
We Trade Marquis, Foster, and Tinsley for Shaq and a first round pick (as of right now it is #14, so we'll keep it at that). They immediately save $2 million dollars. Next year they pay $12 million for Foster and Tinsley (plus an additional 12 million for luxury tax). That is better than paying the 40 or so whatever million. Following year the pay 12 million more, for a total of $36 million. They save $8 million+ while getting a center the can play 20-25 minutes a game and a productive back-up PG. They could save even more money if they can get another expiring for another player.
If they want us to use all of part of the $2.7 million trade exception from JO or the near $1 million one from Ike Diogu we can do that, too. Maybe we could get Robin Lopez for a trade exception (in place of the 1st round pick, or if we're lucky, not in place of it). They also have Alando Tucker and Goran Dragic under contract who have salaries that would match out TE.
So it would have to be 2 seperate trades, but in the end they would save around or almost $14 million in 3 year total (save 12.5 million next year Shaqs 21 +2.7 TE-Fosters 5.5 and -Tinsleys 6.7, double it for luxury tax to make it 25). After you factor in the draft pick, that's another 2 million x2 to make it a total of $29 million in savings next year. The following year they have to pay about 12.5 million for Foster and Tinsley, but save about 2.5 million from the draft pick and we'll say 2 million from the player(s) used from the trade exception(s). So they pay $8 extra in 2 years, but still save $21 million total.
Hopefully that makes sense. And please don't be too harsh on me b/c that took me a little while to calculate.
In the end we get Shaq, the #14 pick, and either Goran Dragic and Alando Tucker or Robin Lopez and Alando Tucker if we're lucky and they're desperate.
Trade #2)
The Wizards want to save money. Badly. We're screwed with contracts for a few years, so maybe the Simons will bite it for a couple years and pay the luxury tax for a good draft pick (The Portland Trailblazer theory).
So we trade Rasho's 8.4 million dollar expiring for say... Etan Thomas, Javale McGee, and their unprotected first (as of right now they have the #2 pick). We could buy out Thomas. This would save them 8.25 million x 2=$16.5 million. Additionally they'd have to pay their draft pick around 4.5 million, double it for the luxury to get 9 million. They save 25.5 million for giving up their draft pick. They may want Hibbert in this deal, which I would be willing to do, especially if we could get Lopez or use a draft pick to get a different center.. He makes about 1.5 million so their savings would be at 22.5 million.
So overall the Pacers trade Marquis, Tinsley, Foster, TEs, Rasho, and possibly Hibbert for Shaq, #14 pick, Alando Tucker, Robin Lopez (hopefully) or Goran Dragic, Etan Thomas (probably bought out), Javale McGee and the #2 pick. Additionally we have our own pick (right now it is #9).
We take on a LOT of money next year, but after that the only guys we have left are the youngsters and draft picks. If ownership is willing to pay a lot of luxury tax next year then this could work. In 2 years we also wouldn't have to pay Foster or Tinsley, so that would help pay our draft picks.
We could get a lot out of the #2, #9, and #14 picks (I haven't thought about who we would draft yet. Maybe we'd get lucky and one of the teams would land the #1 and we can get Griffin). We could also try to get Rubio in the draft, if he enters, which makes TJ tradeable. A new group of guys coming in of lets say... Brook Lopez, Alando Tucker, Blake Griffin or Rubio, Brandon Jennings or Greg Monroe (depending if we land Griffin or not), and, with #14 posibly a SG say... Chase Budinger.
PG Rubio/Jennings
SG Chase Budinger/Brandon Rush
SF Granger
PF Griffin/Monroe
C Robin Lopez/Hibbert
That is an amazinggg young core. It's my silly dream that won't happen, but that would be awesome. We would lose a lot of money next year to the luxury tax, as I said, but a lot of it would be gained by ticket sales for people to see Shaq.
Also, if this time next year we have Shaq and are in the same position, we could trade him to somebody that is looking for cap space so try and get Lebron, Amare, etc. We could get another youngster and a draft pick or 2 to take on a bad contract. I won't go into details about that.
So overall, I am brilliant. Seriously though, this is a quick way to build a contender. I think the Suns would do it to save all that money (maybe not with Lopez, though). They seem to be desperate. While Shaq wouldn't want to come here, he doesn't want to get a bad rep and it's only a year to a year and a half. Washington might be able to get a better deal than what I offered. If we don't use the TEs with PHO we could always do that with Washington, though, to sweeten it up. And if we get Lopez I have no problem with trading Hibbert, if they're interested. Also with all these draft picks we could include Rush, if they want would possibly want him, and then draft another SG.
Well I am sure nobody read this, but oh well. This is what I want to happen on deadline day, 2009. Flame away, but please, not too much. This was a lot of typing and calculating
.
P.S. I am trying to figure out how much extra money we'd have to pay next year. It could be an absurd amount around 40+ million with the luxury tax. We may have to chip in 20 bucks each, but look at that core of guys!
If you didn't read any of it, this is the summary. Pacers make trades and we win 5 championships in a row with the starting line-up of:
PG Rubio/Jennings
SG Chase Budinger/Brandon Rush
SF Granger
PF Griffin/Monroe
C Robin Lopez/Hibbert
Ooh and don't forget, the draft picks can change, so if you can build a better 5 let me know. Whew, I am finished and just wasted a lot of time.
