News that Chicago will trade the 1st round pick they got from Charlotte last year for Foster. Should we do it? I say yes. Get the draft pick.

So it's Charlotte's pick this year? Any protection on it? I would probably trade Foster for a pick in the teens and certainly in the lotto. Also, I do like the idea of sending him somewhere where they are winning. I live in Colorado so I get to watch the Nugs...when the Pacers are in town.

I believe so, we could use that pick on a PG possibly especially if we can get the Chandler trade.

Ford/ Pick
Rush/Dunleavy
Granger/Graham
Chandler/pick
Hibbert/Murphy

Nuggets only recieve the first round pick this year from Charlotte if the Bobcats make the playoffs, and next year its top 10 safe.... so Denver probably wont receive this pick until 2011

Bobcats are years from making the playoffs so either way it's fine.

mmm, normally I'd jump at getting a pick like this from a crappy franchise in hopes that it eventually is a very high selection. However, Larry Brown is coaching em up now and he has a tendency to get the most out of a team in the short term. This pick will probably be in the low teens in the 2010 draft. I'm guessing they eek into the playoffs next year... I'd still probably do it.

i dont want to try and develop a player in 2011, i was under the idea that we would be back in the playoffs by then not trying to still go young and rebuild

but by then what will Foster be at? a young guy is better than an older player not capable of much

I never said we had to keep him, but I'm not trading him for a for an unknown 2011 draft pick. we can get more for him. if it was unprotected and this years or next i say yes. otherwise no. just my 2 cents.

The Bobcat's pick is lottery-protected in 2009, then protected 1 through 12 in 2010, 1-10 in 2011, 1-8 in 2012 and 1-3 in 2013, and then completely unprotected in 2014.

We turned down a first round pick (Charlotte's protected) for Jeff Foster? Hmm...
