http://basketball.realgm.com/src_wireta ... th_pacers/Well, I'm giving up hope for next year too.
I will say, since the new year, he really hasn't been all that bad outside a few games. Even so, we won't ever amount to anything with him at the helm.

He's been okay lately. I have no qualms with him. The defense is improving and the team plays hard, so I can't complain.

Keeping O'Brien is a step forward to completing the rebuilding process. Changing the coach would most probably result to changing the system and eventually re-shuffling the roster, again.
I actually like the core of guys we have right now. I think the Jack-Ford backcourt combo is actually doing good. TJ's assist might be down this season but he gets the chance to score more and exploit his quickness especially on one on one plays. Hope we could keep Jack though til Rush develops into a starter.
Most of the guys have improved from the previous year. I think they fit well in Obie's system, and should nourish some more come next season.

O'B is a good guy but a bit stubborn. he really doesn't want to change direction other than in the summer. I have no trouble keeping him.
Jack has improved as the year has gone by. Ford has not. I'd sign Jack and hope someone makes an offer we can't refuse for Ford. for all his speed, he doesn't stay in front of his man.

I dont see how you can be suprised... It was all but a certainty regardless of how we played this year...
What it will do for us is keep us a borderline playoff team, that does not get a good draft pick... That is my biggest concern personally, as we continue to rebuild the team...

This was expected. O'Brien hasn't been bad enough to warrant firing him over. With the economy bad, the team isn't going to eat a lot of money either. The team's playing hard under him, and we've seen some improvement and growth from some players too.
