Preview
The Pacers playoff hopes are very slim, but the team hasn't given up and has shown a lot of heart. To keep their slim chances alive, they must beat the Toronto Raptors. The Raptors haven't kept up with the pre-season predictions and are looking at the lottery. The Raptors have been playing very well of late, winning 7 of 8, after losing 9 of 10, the sole win of that losing streak being against the Pacers 110-87 in Toronto.

The Pacers have won 5 of their last 7, which is when they moved Jarrett Jack to point guard and moved Brandon Rush to starting Shooting Guard. Rush has played great defense, scored in double-figures every game, and scored 29 points 2 times (one of which he also got 10 boards).

The Pacers are 22-15 at homes while the Raptors are 13-25 on the road.

EDIT: Here are the 4 remaining games and the scheduled user to make a GDT. I know gremz needs a replacement, he is busy with work, etc. I will be out of town Thursday and coming home Friday, so I doubt I will be able to cover for him. PP and Grang33r, please let us know ASAP if you cannot make the thread. I could cover for the Bucks, probably, if necessary.

I guess it doesn't really matter for this year, but I really need to figure out how to get the right pics. I think everyone gets them from nba.com or espn.com, but I use the IMG and I think it has to be a picture by itself, but I could be wrong. M4E or some1, can you just past what you put inside the parentheses or something so then I can just put in the IMG or whatever next time? Thanks doggggg.

Since I read somewhere that the GDTs are lacking, I have a suggestion to make people actually do it when they sign up. Make a template or something. Write out how to get pictures in there, the size they should (roughly) be, the best place to get player pics, etc. For instance I would be happy to do a GDT, but I know the first time I did it, it would take me an hour to figure everything out. Just a suggestion to those that frequently do it.

Here's an example of what I do, without the end brackets "]" for everything.

I really want to see a game at...

[u][b]Point Guard[/b[/size[/u
[img]http://www.nba.com/media/playerfile/jarrett_jack.jpghttp://www.nba.com/media/playerfile/tony_parker.jpg[/img
After a long rest after playing 44 minutes against the Bulls, Jarrett Jack gets another dangerous young point guard to contend with in Tony Parker. The speed Tony Parker possesses in combination with his teardrop and developing jump shot is a huge problem for every defense. Jack needs to avoid getting pickpocketed, and take care of the ball, because Tony Parker is a one-man fastbreak. Jarrett Jack has a slight size advantage, and should look to disrupt Parker's rhythm.

[u][b]Shooting Guard[/b[/size[/u
[img]http://www.nba.com/media/playerfile/brandon_rush.jpghttp://www.nba.com/media/playerfile/manu_ginobili.jpg[/img
Manu Ginobili is the most productive guard in the Western Conference next to Kobe Bryant. The way he attacks the basket and gets away with flopping are testaments to both his sheer will and the ineffectiveness of the league's flopping-fine policy. Brandon Rush should continue to hold his ground against opposing guards, and he has done a good job of clamping down on the opponent's starting shooting guard. His offense is not half as important as his defense in this game, and he will be tested between Manu Ginobili and Michael Finley.

[u][b]Small Forward[/b[/size[/u
[img]http://www.nba.com/media/playerfile/danny_granger.jpghttp://www.nba.com/media/playerfile/michael_finley.jpg[/img
As well as he has done this season, Granger will have to summon everything he has to succeed against the Spur's defense. Michael Finley and Bruce Bowen are both veteran defensive specialists that can shoot threes, and that will challenge Granger's ability to penetrate. Michael Finley is a shooter who, despite his age, can still find ways to collect points. The matchup between youth and experience could be the deciding factor.

[u][b]Power Forward[/b[/size[/u
[img]http://www.nba.com/media/playerfile/troy_murphy.jpghttp://www.nba.com/media/playerfile/tim_duncan.jpg[/img
Troy Murphy came back against the Bulls and picked up where he left off, netting another double-double (44ths of the season). Tim Duncan has the same number of double-doubles, and is one of the most dangerous post players ever. Between his rock-steady fundamentals and his future hall-of-fame spot, Tim Duncan is a force to be reckoned with. Troy can hope to clear out the post by forcing Duncan to guard him outside. Chances are, however, that Murphy may find himself matched up against Bonner for most of the game.

[u][b]Center[/b[/size[/u
[img]http://www.nba.com/media/playerfile/roy_hibbert.jpghttp://www.nba.com/media/playerfile/matt_bonner.jpg[/img
The fouls keep on happening, and Hibbert keeps finding himself relegated to the end of the bench. He may break records with his fouling, but while he is on the floor, he is a decently productive center. Tim Duncan and Matt Bonner could very well end Hibbert's night early. Defending either player would be difficult, as Tim Duncan has a plethora of wily post moves, and Matt Bonner has a dangerous outside shot. Hibbert should be looking to post Bonner up, but if Duncan comes to help, it may be time to find and pass to Troy Murphy.

[img]http://www.nba.com/media/playerfile/rasho_nesterovic.jpghttp://www.nba.com/media/playerfile/george_hill.jpg[/img
T.J. Ford proved his worth with an awesome shot to lift the Pacers over the Bulls and closer to the last playoff spot. However, the speed advantage he usually has is negated with Tony Parker's presence. The Spurs have a bench that plays like its starters: offensive capability coupled with defensive tenacity. The Spurs are just as dangerous as the Pacers from outside the arc. Former Spur Rasho Nesterovic may have a productive game, as he has some motivation in the form of beating Tim Duncan.

[b]The Coaches[/size[/b

[img]http://www.nba.com/media/playerfile/jim_obrien.jpghttp://www.nba.com/media/playerfile/greg_popovich.jpg[/img
Greg Popovich has had one of the longest tenure as a head coach, and for good reason. He has been with the Spurs through their dynasty in the early part of the millenium, but injuries have plagued the team in '08-'09. Jim O'Brien does not appear to be on the tank train, and will do whatever he can to get the Pacers back into the playoffs, however unlikely those odds.

-Contain the guards. We've been torched too many times. Disrupt their rhythm and play them smart.
-Boards are going to matter a lot against a post-oriented team like the Spurs
-We want to make the playoffs, or fail trying.

You're welcome. I know first time I did it, I was at it for a while. I think that everyone should have their way of doing it, and I miss the unique GDT's that count and notque and harding would crank out. I think that Gamethread signups next year will go a lot faster and better GDT's will pop up due to our team's inevitable playoff berth (praying, corssing my fingers, sacrificing iguanas, etc.)

I think we will have offseason tradition activities and whatnot, and I give full credit to count for all things tradition-based. Trust me, it'll be fun.

Sweeeeet, I love iguana sacrifices.

Also, thanks for the layout. I am ready for cdash to put some babes on a GDT. By babes of course I mean pics of his "cookijf".

wow what is going on. I checked the box score and we are up by one million points a the end of 3 quarters.

Also I really do hope Obie give Rush and Hibbert the chance to play the ENTIRE 4th quarter, and also McBob.

M4E I am always around just not enough time to post, it's a bear market what can I say ;-).

Got a new job about 6 months ago and with the time difference between US and Aussie all games are during our work hours so makes it hard to post.

Yes I do remember the days when JO, Reggie and Ron were around and we were healthy. Honestly though this group seems promising and pleasant to watch so our future is looking bright for the first time in many years.

Well I do hope that you will post even when there's not a game. We have quite a few Aussies on the Pacers board, and I'm still waiting for the subject of barbequed shrimp or kangaroos to come up. Gremz has already tried teaching us cricket, but he said something about chinaman bowlers, and that made me think I could only play one position in cricket.

 "Chinaman bowlers"
Yeah it's a type of a bowling delivery. Just think of it in terms of baseball pitching and the different varieties (fast ball, curve ball etc...).
If you think cricket is a complicated game try watching rugby or Aussie rules.

In terms of BBQ we do it all, except it's prawns and not shrimp
