What would be a good deal for...

Carlos Boozer. I am making this its own thread because I think he can be had this offseason. I think the Jazz would rather have Millsap, and Boozer will want big money. My question: What would be an acceptable sign and trade deal for him? Not just a homer trade (Dunleavy+Daniels qualifies as homer) either. I would deal our lottery pick, pick up Daniels' option and throw him in, and Foster for Boozer. Thoughts?

I would think that we wouldn't have anything that Utah would be interested in burning salary up on.
If they sign and trade Boozer for Daniels and Foster, they're still going to have trouble re-signing Millsap, Okur, and possibly Korver, all 3 things they want to do.
They only have money for 2 of Millsap, Okur, and Boozer. Trading Boozer for just as much money means they still have the same money issues, but instead of having to choose between Boozer, Millsap, and Okur, they're forced to choose between Millsap and Okur, because they have to keep Daniels and Foster.
I'm not sure a late lotto pick is worth paying the luxury tax or losing out on Boozer AND either Okur or Millsap.

I'm basically not interested in Boozer. While he does fit the bill of somebody we need, he's not so necessary that we trade a pick for a young player who could contribute and one of the best role players in the NBA. Obviously, he's very attractive (as a ballplayer. I meant, as a man who plays basketball. Forget it) and some people here feel like that's a good trade, and it is, talentwise, but in all the other aspects, like chemistry, the way his contract will tie us up, and his beard...it doesn't feel right. Not his beard.

He's just someone we need. A bruising power forward who can score in the post and rebound. He might be available. We aren't going to get anything of immediate use in this draft (and likely, nothing more than a decent role player down the road). Foster is aging and shouldn't be a dealbreaker.

He would round out our lineup, but there is no real way we land him...

If Boozer walks, Utah needs to let him walk, not sign and trade him. Unless they only take back around 5 million or so, they're still stuck in the same position, and would need to cut salary to keep both Okur and Millsap.

I also like dreaming. It would be a very good situation.

Theres no way we can get him. Firstly, Utah wont do a sign and trade because they wont have enough money to resign Milsap and Okur. Therefore the only way we get him is to sign him, which we cant because we are already over the cap. Unless hes willing to accept the MLE, we cant sign him

Yes, yes, you're beating a dead horse. Scoot already killed my far fetched dream.

Scoot has killed many dreams in his time. I remember when I was just a fresh new poster. "Ballboy" adorned the space beneath my avatar. I suggested trading Jeff Foster, I think. Last time I ever thought it was a good idea to trade Foster.

It's what I do.
Ask my wife.

Scoot hasn't ever killed any of my dreams. Am I not good enough for you Scoot?

Boozer would be ideal, but as mentioned, not going to happen. We have a better chance of landing Amare or Bosh, both of whom are better players IMO.

Then we'd run the risk of them bolting after one season (which they would both almost surely do).

True, but the risk of them leaving is the only reason their teams are considering shopping them in the first place. Normally, you don't see teams entertaining trade offers for NBA all-star PF's just entering their primes. I'm not advocating the Pacers to trade for Bosh or Amare, but I wouldn't be opposed to it either. It would be interesting to see what a Granger-Bosh/Amare tandem could do even if it's just one season.

I did, but at the mere mention of it, she promptly stopped talking, looked down at her feet, and turned to walk away...

look--I realize the NBA is a business. But we've worked hard assembling a group of guys with some promise who also happen to be good guys building good chemistry. The last thing we need is this lying bastard who has proven beyond a doubt that his word is worth zero and his character is sh*t. I personally don't want to see the **** on this team, however much he might seem to fit a purely basketball need.

Yup, blame the guy who's agent steered him towards a 5 year $60 million deal instead of a 3 year $15 million deal.
The guy's character obviously is awful, and he's a waste of a human being. I see you know him personally, and I will take your word on it. The works of his charity, friendliness, and good works shall be immediately disregarded on your mere word, sir.
