Only posting here because Miller4Ever doesn't have time to post it here. Good luck with finals M4E

When I hobbled out of the hospital on crutches in Vail, Colo., two months ago, it was hard to imagine that I would be jogging on a water treadmill eight weeks later.
I couldn't even put on my shoes and socks by myself. All the simple things became nearly impossible. Forget playing basketball, I just wanted to be able to do things like get off the couch by myself, walk up stairs, cut my toenails, and so on.

JJSG! Welcome back! Great to see a post from you again man.
Good to know Mike is progressing well, if he comes back healthy next season it will be interesting to see what happens at the SG position.

If Dunleavy comes back healthy I'd be willing to bet that we try to trade him ASAP. His contract, age, and health are all MUCH less attractive than letting Brandon Rush fill the spot at SG. I wouldn't be opposed to moving Dunleavy if we can trade him when/if he builds some trade value back up. I do wish him a quick and full recovery, and hopefully we can benefit from Mike in one way or another. I just don't see us platooning at the SG position with guys who should be starters.

Awesome, thanks JJSG. Is Dunleavy active with his blog, meaning will he update every couple weeks on how he is doing?
It'll be tough to trade Dunleavy, especially once he immediately gets back from his injury. We are going to have to play him to prove he is healthy and productive. We probably won't have enough time to do that before the trade deadline next year, but what I have been hearing is that he won't be back for a while (January, possibly at the earliest).
If he is healthy I think we would make him our 6th man. He would be an expensive 6th man, but an awesome one.

Welcome back JJSG, you should start posting here again. Even if we don't and likely never will get along, you keep things interesting.
I do have a question, thats all it is, what do you think of Brandon Rush after taking off at the end of the year? Were you happy to see him play well?
I'm just asking out of curiosity, not trying to start anything.

If you are a Pacer fan you have to be glad to see Rush playing well, even if you didn't think he would turn out to be any good. At least in my opinion. I mean there were thousands of people pis*ed about us getting Reggie over the Indiana boy. In the end, though, it was the right move.

i 100% agree with the statement made in regards to having Mike be our 6th man. I works wonders fro the Spurs with Manu. I think it would do well for us too.

Yeah, don't trade him. Even if he comes back healthy, his value won't be that high. Keep him, make him the sixth man. I think that is a role he would thrive in.

Welcome back JJSG!
The Ginobili comparison is a great one, although Dunleavy isnt as effective as Ginobili he can certainly play the same role off the bench. I also like the idea of having a hardworking veteran pushing Brandon Rush in practice and mentoring him throughout the season.

He won't have any value until he plays and people see his knee is healed, and if we're gonna trade him it would be best to wait til next summer trade him then and he's an expiring contract and his value will be highest.

You guys woke me up a bit. I've just been feeling sorta down on Dunleavy since the injury and then the comeback and then going down again. If he can come back healthy and is comfortable coming off the bench as the 6th man, that would be phenomenal. I just don't like paying a 6th man that much money so as soon as it's possible we need to work on that contract, either restructuring or just wait until he's a free-agent and bring him back cheaper.

You can't restructure a contract in the NBA.

Very good read. Thanks for the link JJSG.
Speaking of blogs, has anyone been over to pacers.com recently? They have A LOT of original content via the blog. Sam Perkins and Troy Murphy are also blogging. As well as Conrad Brunner who's been obviously been doing it for a while.
