Former Pacer forward and Olympic gold medal winner Wayman Tisdale has died from cancer. I was at the old MSA the day the Pacers drafted Wayman he was a big guy with a big smile and seemed to love the game! He didn't quite make the stardom that I thought was in his future but he was a darn good PF, Tisdale also was an accomplished bass guitar player. He recorded eight jazz albums, performed on worldwide tours and collaborated with artists like country music star Toby Keith.

Wayman was a great guy and I remember when we traded him for LaSalle Thompson I hated seeing him go, I had a poster on my wall of him and Vern Fleming they were dressed like the Blues Brothers and they were wearing their Gold Metals the poster said the "The Gold Brothers!"
Watch that video about him and if you don't cry at least a little your probably not human!
He will be missed!

I missed that he had severe cancer for 2 years as well, very sad. 44 is too young.

I never really knew much about Tisdale, but this is sad news nevertheless. May he rest in peace.

Wayman was a great guy, just unfortunately not a franchise player. There was just so much hype with him because of his college career that everyone expected more. After playing on some very bad Pacer teams, he got traded to an equally bad Kings squad.
RIP

Last night on TNT, Kenny Smith and Charles Barkley talked deeply about Tisdale. I didn't know but both Smith and Chuck were close friends with him. Also, NBA.com posted a really cool video about Tisdale. I guess it was posted during the all-star break and taken down, but they put it back on last night per Ernie Johnson's demand. Check it out-
