Pretty cool. Pacers.com reporter Conrad Brunner is doing a live chat all day and all night long about the draft lottery. Pretty cool stuff. Check it out if you get bored at some day today.

Nice. I'm not a big fan of chats with writers, but I get the feeling Conrad will have a chance to answer questions more clearly.

[Comment From Luke (Evansville, IN)]
If the Pacers drafted a PG such as Eric Maynor, Lawson, or Tyreke Evans; would this signal the end of Jarrett Jack's tenure with the team?

Bruno: Not necessarily. Don't forget Travis Diener also has an option and hasn't made public his intentions. If he opts out, the Pacers will need a third guard. If they draft a PG, it might be a hint something else is going on, trade-wise. I know they want to keep Jack and I know Jack wants to stay here. But that often isn't enough.

My question got answered. I pretty much knew the answer, "not necessarily", but was hoping he'd shed some more light on Jack's chances to re-sign.

I'm Ruso....

He answered two of my questions, one about Thabeet vs Hill at #3 and also the questions about Lorbek/Barac/and Tinsley.

I liked your question about Lorbek/Barac. I didn't realize Erazem was doing so well in Europe. I hope he decides to come over this year or (more likely) next year. He could have a Luis Scola-type of impact if we get lucky.

Not sure if Lorbek and Scola is a good comparison. The best comparison i once heard for him was Jorge Garbajosa who once played for Toronto.

We'd be ecstatically lucky if that were the case. Pre-broken leg Garbajosa was a solid rotational player, and a solid big man for that Raptors team. He just wasn't the same after the leg, but he might just now be healing from it.

However, I don't really see the comparison. I just hope Lorbek has improved a lot since he was at Michigan State. The player we all saw then was not NBA caliber in any way.

I wasn't really comparing them, just hoping for a similar type of impact. I haven't see Lorbek play since college, so I am in no way qualified to make comparisons with him and other players.

[Comment From Luke (Evansville, IN)]
Is it just me or would taking a swingman like Duke's Gerald Henderson or Louisville's Earl Clark be a little bit redundant with Granger and seemingly Rush having the SG and SF position probably locked up for many years to come? You have to think Dunleavy will probably have the 6th man role locked up for the next few years too.

bruno: There's nothing behind Granger and Rush at the moment. Daniels won't be back. Graham's a free agent. Dunleavy won't be back until midseason at the earliest. So there is a need at the wing.

[Comment From Luke (Evansville, IN)]
Blair may not be a stopper, but I think he will be an enforcer around the rim. The likes the Pacers have not seen since Dale Davis's last go around here. Wouldn't you agree that the Pacers could use a tough guy in the middle who can mix it up a little bit?

bruno: Blair would be an interesting offensive force but I don't really see him comparing defensively to Dale Davis.

[Comment From Luke (Evansville, IN)]
I believe Larry Bird mentioned that he'd like to find a younger guy to eventually relieve Jeff Foster of his role of team "hustler" inside. Can Josh McRoberts develop into this guy, assuming the Pacers can bring him back? If not, UNC's Tyler Hansbrough looks like a good fit if we could trade down or acquire a pick later in the draft, no?

bruno: McRoberts has the athleticism and energy but needs to work on the mental and physical toughness. Although asking anyone to be as tough as Foster is probably too much to expect. Hansbrough's a wild card. He's commonly mentioned as a second-rounder but I find it hard to believe a guy that productive at the highest level of college basketball for so long would be anything other than a respectable pro at worst.

[Comment From Luke (Evansville, IN)]
I agree that SG and SF currently is thin, but wouldn't it be smarter long-term to just re-sign Stephen Graham for slightly above the minimum or a vet like Quentin Richardson than to spend a first round pick on a guy that we will probably only need until Dunleavy returns? I mean when I think about first round pick, I think about the big picture.
8:21

bruno:
Keep in mind, there's no guarantee Dunleavy will return.

[Comment From Luke (Evansville, IN)]
Do you think Brandon Rush can be the "Robin" to Granger's "Batman"? Or is the organization going to have to look elsewhere?
8:31

bruno:
GIve Rush 2-3 years and he'll be an All-Star level player.

[Comment From Luke (Evansville, IN)]
Bruno, I could use an internship for the summer. Hook me up! :)

bruno: We couldn't afford you. Plus, the position already is filled. Sorry.

[Comment From Luke (Evansville, IN)]
Is it safe to say that Hibbert and Murphy will be the Pacers' starting frontcourt for the forseeable future? Or is the team looking to infuse some much needed athleticism into one of the two spots?
8:24
bruno: Pretty safe, but not a lock.

[Comment From Luke (Evansville, IN)]
I feel like I'm watching a game show. Where's Bob Barker?

bruno: Fantastic analogy, except the participants are powerless to influence the outcome.

I'll be honest....

I was just ecstatic that they didn't announce the Pacers as having slid to the 14th pick. That's all I was expecting.

I would have been pretty pissed had OKC gotten the top pick. LeBron to Cleveland, Rose to Chicago, and we had the chance to be Oden to Indiana. The Clippers I can live with.

It won't let me send PM's. Says I'm not authorized to do so. I went to Harrison though, graduated in 2003.

The live chat was really cool. i think he took too many breaks though. lol I wish when he took his breaks, that you could submit questions. I wonder how many people went to pacers.com with a question, but couldn't and never returned. People should have had the option of asking a question and leaving, and coming back later in the day to find his response.
