2009 Slow Form RealGM Mock Draft

Post#1 » by dice » Sat May 30, 2009 5:55 pm

No clock here!

When the Pacers board makes their call I move on to the next team board. I'll wait until it seems a clear frontrunner has been determined. If that cannot be accomplished a reasonable selection will be made for you :wizard:

1. Griffin
2. Rubio
3. Thabeet
4. Harden
5. Evans
6. DeRozan
7. Holiday
8. Hill
9. Jennings
10. Blair
11. Johnson
12. Williams

And with the #13 pick Indiana takes...?

I would go with Eric Maynor. Jennings and Holiday i may have ranked higher, and seems like Bird likes Evans a lot, but all 3 of them have already been gone. That said, the next best point guard is Maynor. Great size and very smart player. Also a good shooter and plays well on defense which is what the Pacers need.

I think Curry is the easy choice here. Everyone knows I love Lawson - but I'm not sure theres another player in the country who faced as much pressure night in and night out as Curry did - and he still managed to lead the NCAA in scoring. To go with that, he showed he could play the point, and make his teammates around him better. Curry would make it even harder for teams to put pressure on Granger - and even Rush. I also think the threat he is from deep will help Hibbert.

I'd go with Curry if he is available. He is just an exciting player to watch imo.

I'll go with Curry too. I don't think he'll be here come draft night though.

I usually expect Curry to be gone by ~10th pick. He's also a statistical beast. 2.5 steals, and has 5.6 APG, but that could be because of how many touches he gets. Still, he's got good size for a PG, as long as he's willing to play that position for the Pacers.

Eric Maynor, he's got size similar to Jarrett Jack, and regardless of the talent level that he was playing against, he played phenomenally for VCU. People were skeptical about Jason Thompson last year because of the level of competition that Rider faced, but we see that he looks to be a pretty solid young PF.

I am surprised that Curry would still be available to us at 13. Even then, I think we need more defense from our point guard spot and Curry wouldn't bring that. We already have enough scoring, we need defense and play makers. For these reasons I would go with Eric Maynor. He's got the decision making and ability to create for others that we need on this team. A true point guard.

One thing I want to address though, is the comparison to Jarrett Jack. Jack measures at 6'3 197. Eric Maynor recently measured at 6'2 164. As a comparison, TJ Ford is 6'0 165.

I will go with Maynor. Analysis soon to follow.

I'd have to say if Curry slides, we'd have to take him. If Curry were gone, I'd go with Maynor here, but Curry's the solid long-term choice with a solid blood-line.

In this situation, it's Curry for me.

Based on the board so far, it would have to be Curry.

Curry. Whether you think he fits on the team or not, he clearly has the most value here, and as someone else already stated we could make a deal like we did last year to get other pieces.

Call it, looks like it is Curry. The team that drafts Maynor we (me) are willing to trade for him. They may want Curry. So Curry for Maynor and something extra works greaaaaat. Perfect, thanks!

Maynor gave him a good fight for a while, but it's a landslide now. lol

Late to the party...Curry. His basketball IQ and experience, plus his ability to play the point (I think he can anyways) make him a slam dunk here for me. I have my concerns about him, but at this point, he is the best value.

Curry is my choice too, although in reality he will be gone.

I agree. Curry. Worst case is we pull a Bayless from last year.
