OKC-LAC draft day rumor?

Post#1 » by freeman » Fri Jun 5, 2009 6:50 am

I've posted this on the LAC and OKC boards as well, the Pacers will have no involvement with this at all so i made a separate topic, i posted this on the trade / waiver thread too.

I've been searching all over the net for the OKC-LAC draft day trade proposal, but i can't find anything.
I just heard it from one of my basketball buddies, he's a contributing editor to a local basketball magazine, i forgot to ask the link, i must've been too drunk to understand it all completely. But here's some bits about it:

LAC trades:
2009 #1 pick - Blake Griffin
Future 2nd rd pick/s
Marcus Camby / Chris Kaman

OKC trades:
2009#3 pick - Hasheem Thabeet/James Harden/Ricky Rubio
2009#25 pick - potentially Sam Young
Russell Westbrook
Nick Collison

At first i thought it's silly but it works on the trade checker.
Anyone heard or seen this before? Got a link?
I didn't really understood his reasoning but it has something to do with OKC's strategy to strengthen their financial stability.

OKC would be wiser to move Jeff Green instead of Westbrook.

Yeah, i think so. But the Clips could want Westbrook than Green.

Westbrook/Eric Gordon/Thornton/Some1 I am forgetting/Thabeet isn't bad. Or take Rubio and trade Westbook elsewhere. Or take Green and have:

Rubio/EJ/Green/Some1/Camby for now. I like those 3 for the future.

We should trade our 2nd rounder for DeAndre Jordan. I will even add in Dallas' other 2nd rounder they're giving us.

It's actually fairly plausible, but I really think it would be Jeff Green as opposed to Russell Westbrook going LA's way. If the Clippers trade down, they want Rubio. Why would they trade for Rubio and Westbrook? I realize the elder Dunleavy makes some bonehead moves, but even he would realize that Green would be better to take there than Westbrook.

On paper, the Clippers wouldn't look too bad. Then again, they don't look too bad on paper now, and look at how lousy they were. Still, a core of Rubio/Gordon/Green is nice. Wonder what they do with Baron...

I'd do it without batting an eyelash.

Certainly an interesting rumor, although Mike Dunleavy Sr has already come out publicly and said he is drafting Blake Griffin I wouldnt be surprised if they took Griffin and then waited to see if Rubio fell to the Thunder before pulling the trigger. I also agree that Green makes alot more sense then Westbrook.
