Should we bring back Diogu?

Word out of Sacramento is that the Maloof brothers aren't going to re-sign Ike. If we aren't able to get a solid 4 in the draft, would any of you be open to trying to bring him back to Indy for a 2nd chance? Before he got injured, he started off the 07-08 season very well for us and is a bruising type of player that we need. If we could bring him in to back up Troy at the 4, then have to rely less on McBob (I like the guy but he still needs time) we would look pretty good at the 4 spot I think. His qualifying offer from Sacramento would have to be like $3.9 mill, but could we get him cheaper?

According to his game logs, he’s played 20 minutes in an NBA game 37 times. He’s scored at least 10 points in 32 of those games.

Been there, done that. No thanks. Ike Diogu didn't impress me with the Pacers. His game is more suited for Europe, so if he was smart, he'd look over seas unless he really enjoys being buried on a bench in the NBA.

for the minimum, maybe. I mean, can we sign an undrafted rook for the minimum, maybe? I'd rather have an NBA vet. Diogu could still put it all together if he wants to keep his NBA dream alive.

I'd say if the price were right.

I'd like to say yes, but I think there's good reason that Ike never got off the bench under Jim O'Brien, so pass.

One reason Ike didn't get off the bench is because we had JO, Foster, Muprhy. JO isnt losing minutes period. and Murphy is obies lap dog. I think he could see minutes here. id be ok for cheap. round out our roster. i also would like to pick up a cheap sg/sf via free agency. Maybe someone like; green, moon, bogans, carney, j graham, almond. I would think any of those players could be an option.

I still want to see Marcin Gortat as a free agent. And play him at PF.

I still like Ike, I just like McRoberts more.

I think he didn't play because he couldn't play defense, at all.

Though he has the low post scoring we need, I don't see him fit in Obie's up-temple style.

After resigning McRoberts, the Pacers still need 2 players in the paint. How about Brandon Bass or Stromile Swift?

I'd be game for Bass. I actually love his game. He reminds me A LOT of Antonio Davis actually. Not that much fan of Swift but if we got him i wouldn't be too disappointed. I still think he has some untabed talent that nobody has seen yet. In the right place, he can make somewhat of am impact.

ps Laydo- welcome to the forum! If you have any questions, feel free to ask. Hope to see more future posts from you.

I'd rather keep Blastin' Baston.

here's another vote for McRoberts. he's shown me much more Po than Ike. plus there is a substantial chance that the draft will give us a big too.

Why would we possibly want to re-sign Ike? He hasn't done a damn thing for any team he's played for, and he's already proved once that he can't hack it in Obie's system.

I would say that I would love to McRoberts get some more minutes. I was not a fan when he first got here, but I admit the few minutes he got, he looked very good. But even with McRoberts we need another big man or two. We all now the Pacers track record with injuries. I would like Bass too, but he wil have a lot more interest and probably be out of our price range. Swift is too old.
