7. Allen Iverson

Iverson's reputation took a hit this year in Detroit, but he still remains valuable.

In Iverson's defense, he played in one of the league's slowest offenses with a roster that was set to decline. Iverson was put on the bench at one point this year, so he needs a team where he can play a major role, and a team that runs the floor well.

The Knicks, Nets, and Pacers seem like good fits.

Normally, there'd be more teams who would want Iverson, but there's not a lot of demand for backcourt help this offseason.

Prediction: One year, $15 million with Pacers. Iverson needs an explosive offense, and the Pacers need an upgrade in the backcourt for a playoff run.

I was a little shocked when I read this earlier but in reality it makes since. I know a lot of you will probably say he's too selfish and only looks to score, but if you remember for his career Iverson averages 27 points and 6 assists. Compare that to Ford's 12 points and 6.5 assists and you'll find that Ford isn't that much unselfish. I do agree that Iverson is on the decline but the dude can still play.

All that aside we have to remember that the Pacers main priority isn't just to win, it's to get more money. I'm sorry, but Iverson puts fans in the seats. When's the last time we had a "slasher", someone to put up 40 on any given night. Of course Iverson may not help us much defensively but you cant argue that he's always at the top of the league in steals.

I think if Iverson came, Rush really wouldn't have a problem coming off the bench as the 6th man as long as he got his minutes. If you think about it he can come in at SF or SG whenever Granger or Iverson gets tired.

If it's me I say, "Pull the trigger."

Iverson is far and away a better point guard than we currently have on the roster. I'd love to see him on the Pacers. However, we have maybe $5 million to spend on a free agent (expect it to go to Jack), not $15 million. $15 million is a crazy amount of money - we are already way over the cap. The most we can spend on another team's free agent is the mid-level which is like $6 million or something. We would have to do a sign and trade... with the Pistons... who don't want any of the players on our roster... let alone $15 million worth... and are looking to use all of their cap space on other free agents... so...

Wow. I clicked on the link. That guy is a joke. Apparently, he is completely unaware that there is salary cap and has no idea about the recession.
