Next Year's Draft

Lookin at next year's draft and it's gonna b stacked. It's obvious that we won't win anything this year (as much as I hate to say it) so I think instead of trying to build a team to compete this year we need to do all we can now to be the T'Wolves of next year. There's waaaay to much talent in the lottery for us to make the playoffs and miss out. I think with the team we have now we'll be somewhere around where we were this past draft.
I say if we do trade T.J. or Foster we need to make sure that we get another 1st rd next year in return. Chances are we wont get John Wall but Derrick Favors has star potential on a team looking for an all-star PF. I think next year we could find that other all-star to put next to Granger. No money, not a marketable city...we're not going to get a big name free agent. So the only way to get better is through the draft.
PACERS NEED TWO LOTTERY PICKS NEXT YEAR!!!!
JOHN WALL

GREG MONROE
Dream Pacers Squad:
John Wall
Brandon Rush
Danny Granger
Greg Monroe/Derrick Favors
Roy Hibbert
Reserves: Murph, Jack, Hansbrough, Dunleavy

While I'll agree that the talent level looks to be very deep, it's too early. We have an NBA championship to win next year, and Murphy will net himself the MVP.

I'll take the playoffs over the lottery every year. And this team can make the playoffs. We can always trade up to draft someone.

Right. To get those two, we would not only have to get two lottery picks, but likely two top five picks.

Ay I can dream...Anyway I want more than anyone for the Pacers to win a championship next year. 3 things have to happen before we can make it a reality:
1.) T.J. Ford has to have an all-star year. With one year under his belt that's not to far-fetched.
2.) Roy Hibbert has to add like 20 lbs of shear muscle and quit being soft and dunk the ball.
3.) Tyler Hansbrough has to show everyone why he won the championship last year.
BTW while I didn't like the pick of Hansbrough, I like how Bird and Co. picked 2 champions in back-to-back years...guys that know what it takes to win.
As far as John Wall and Monroe go, I think we wait till the all-star break to see where we are. If we're in not in the playoff picture by that time, I think we need to make some major trades to net us another 1st rounder.

Here's what I'm thinking.
Without a future at PG the could hold on to what they have and be alright, but if the avenue is there to improve the team you always take it.
If they want a young PG, but don't feel like they could land one in this draft, they could sacrifice their 2010 first round pick to get one, like Conley amongst a short list of others.

I'll agree with cdash. I think they both both go in or near the top 5.

And I'm not sure that either Wall or Favors are any more mature than Brandon Jennings.
Seriously, all the same concerns about Jennings will be repeated about Wall and Favors next year.

we'll probably be picking somewhere between 10 and 18 and we'll be looking at juniors and seniors. it's way to early to pin point names but Draft Express has had a mock up for next year for some time now and there are some nice names in the middle of the first.

Ed Davis is going to be a stud. John Wall is going to be a stud. Favors won't bust, but I don't expect him or Henson to live up to the hype they are getting.

Monroe is a great fit. He can play PF with Hibbert and C with Hansbrough.

If Indiana is selecting and John Wall is still available, Larry Bird would surpass him. Don't get too excited.

Bingo!
He has to be "Larry's guy".
