Von Wafer?

What do you guys think? Should we try to go after him now?

Seems like it would be a bit repetitive at this point. I'd rather go after a bigger, more natural SF that can be had for cheap (a la Carney), or another contract in the $3-$4 mill/season range (Hakim Warrick).

Nah, he reportedly has some attitude problems. Thanks, but no thanks.

I wonder how bad Von felt after this...

Carney and/or Warrick would be nice. Warrick would seem more likely since we just signed Dahntay Jones. Carney wouldve been much better than Jones but hey, I don't expect much from Bird.

rhcpjf4, you don't expect much from Bird? What are you saying here? Bird has built a really good team here. Yea, we aren't much now, but in 2-3 years we will be one of the best teams in the NBA.

I would love to get Carney or Warrick as well, I just brought up Wafer because he could help out at our SG position and SF as well.

I liked Carney more then Jones too but only by a little. I can't complain that they signed Jones over Carney. I do hope they find some room to still sign Carney but if not, i'd love Hakim Warrick here. Given our offense, he could be a very good player. That's another strong defensive player who is great under the rim. We have a real good shooting team as is and now would have good players down low. I think Bird knows exactly what he is doing.

If we sign Hakim Warrick, I would jump through the roof. I've been a fan of his since he was at Syracuse and I actually hoped the Pacers picked him in the draft. I think we turned out ok with Granger though

I would love to have Warrick. He is a freak of an athlete and could play the 4 for us in a fast, short line-up. Think about the alley-hoops that could be thrown down with Ford throwing it up to Rush, Granger, Warrick, or McRoberts on a fast break.

Warrick would be nice, don't see it happening though if we plan on resigning Jack. Warrick should be able to command 4-5 million annually at least.
No thanks on Wafer. He has attitude issues.
Rodney Carney would be nice as well, but we might be looking at strictly a minimum guy, rather than the 2 million or so Carney will probably command on the market.

After the Jones signing, I am even more in favor of waiting out free agency and getting guys for the minimum (besides Jack and McBob - don't mind paying a little extra to keep those guys). If Von Wafer can be had for that (doubtful), then maybe. We could use another offensive option at the 2 guard spot. A guy that went undrafted who I really liked was Jerel McNeal. I believe he is playing on the Kings' summer league team. He is also undersized for a 2, but is a serious talent, and he's a good defensive player too.
