Ramon Sessions??

Given the fact that Jack might be on his way out, which I wouldn’t mind if it's going to take 4 years 20 million, should the Pacers turn around and at least make an offer to restricted free agent Ramon Sessions. The guy proved himself very well last season, he is still young, and is essentially the same thing that jack was (combo PG/SG) with a little more athleticism in my opinion. Chad Ford said earlier that he would be a good option for the Pacers if they re-signed Jack anyway, and that the Bucks are strapped for cash so it would be tough for them to match. Love the thought of Sessions as a Pacer. Thoughts?

He'll command similar money IMO to Jack so why not just match Jack?

Well I'm saying no matter what player, we can't afford 4 years 20 mil at this juncture, even if it's re upping on Jack. I'm saying just offer Sessions what we wanted to sign Jack for and see what happens. If anything else we put pressure on a inter division foe to commit money when that is clearly not what they're trying to do at this time.

I'll take Sessions...he gave us problems everytime we played him (last game he scored 9 points but had 12 assists)

We made a lot of people look good. It seemed like every night another role player would have a career high against us.

Yea ur right about that...but he did average 12 a game (solid for a backup in his 2nd year) not to mention a double-double against the champs.

Yeah, Sessions is definitely a productive player and it helps that he's young too, but unfortunately I think his price will be too high for us. The Bucks let Villanueva go for nothing so they could have a better chance of bringing back Sessions.
We just let Jack walk for 4/$20M. I don't think we can get Sessions for less than that.

Sessions didn't just look good against us. He's the same kid that put up back to back 20+ assists games at the end of his rookie year. The kid is VERY talented. I hate seeing Jack leave but if we're letting him walk with the intentions to get Sessions, I'm fine with that decision.

Bucks will match any offer for Sessions up to MLE, so it will be difficult to get him. Are you guys under the cap?

Yeah, but not by much, not anywhere near a full MLE. My thinking is just to make the Bucks do something right now. I think we can offer up to or around 4 mil. Even though that would put us dangerously close to the luxury tax.
Will the Pacers get him? Probably not, but it would definitely spark some things. We have a small window of players we're looking at anyway at this point, why not make a division foe, who's not looking to spend, make a commitment to a player we want. In the unlikelihood they don't match, point goes to the Pacers for pressing the matter, and if they most likely match, no harm is done for trying. He's a great player in my opinion, and would be exactly what we need. So why not exhaust every option before settling for Ford, Diener, Price.. That's not a law firm that could be the Pacers starting PG rotation...

No, we aren't. We are over the cap. We are under the
luxury tax threshold, but still well over the cap. All we could offer is part of the MLE (the part we didn't use on Dahntay Jones), so in short, there is not a snowball's chance in hell we land Ramon Sessions.

If we aren't matching Jack, I don't see how we can afford Sessions.
More likely, we will be looking at cheaper alternatives.
