Dahntay Jones - worried?

Post#1 » by PacersDG » Mon Jul 13, 2009 4:17 pm

I was excited we signed him, but a little worried about anyone coming from a less than classy team in the nuggets. Not too excited about him tripping Kobe in the playoffs either.

Anyone see what the "tweet" was?

How are the Nuggets less than classy? If they were, it was because of players like Dahntay. That guy is a punk.

And yes, I do love his little "tweet." If it weren't for the Nuggets pulling that fool out of the D-League and reviving his career, he wouldn't he be in the United Stated right now, let alone making 11 million dollars. What a moron.

Dahntay's "tweet" was nothing more than him saying that the Nuggets "did him dirty". He fealt that after what he showed them, whatever offer (if they even made him an offer) was a slap in the face. He quoted a Rick Ross song, in expressing how he felt. Big deal

I don't owe u ni@%az nothing, shoot me 2 fingaz when u see a ni@%a stuntin.......- rick ross>>>>> the nuggets did me dirty

You have got to be kidding. Kenyon Martin???, JR Smith???

You might be just a bit naive my friend. I love how the homerish fans always try to act as if a player is the devil once they leave their team. Grow up. Do you see anyone around here bashing Jarrett Jack for signing with Toronto? The Thuggets gave Jones a chance, and he busted his hump for you guys and made you a better team. Now that he leaves, all of a sudden he's a punk and owes Denver something.

Denver fans have hated Jones from the start. Check the board if you'd like. The fact that he is even in the NBA is because of the Nuggets. Just because we they don't want him back, they did him "dirty?" What the hell is that about? If anything he should be saying thank you for them giving him another shot in the league. There is a reason why he was voted one of the top 5 most hated players in the NBA by his peers.

And um no, Dahntay Jones did not make the Nuggets better, at all. He had the worst +/- on the team. Had one of the worst PERs of any shooting guard in the league. His effective FG% against was one of the worst at his position in the league(Anthony Carter did a better job defending two guards then him). He was a below average defender and a huge liability on offense....we've been saying that since December. Everyone is glad he is gone.

And I guess your definition of classy in regards to basketball is quite different then mine. Have they ever refused to shake hands with an opponent? Have they ever gone over to the Bulls bench talking **** after a win? Have they ever gone into the stands in an opposing building and punched out fans?

Be careful throwing those stones when you live in a glass house.

It's been like a week since we signed him, you can stop trolling now dude. Pacer fans are happy he's here so get over it.

Don't act as if he owes the nuggets anything, he's a good player and if you didn't call him up someone would have.

The difference between the nuggets and the pacers, as far as rep goes, we HAD character issues and quickly cleaned those up when things went bad. You guys appear to ignore/embrace them.

Good one. I think the Nuggets just embrace winning right now.

I don't have any problem with Jones, I wish him the best. He seemed like a decent enough dude. He was worth every penny of that minimum contract for the job he was allowed to do on Chris Paul in the first round. If he's given Bruce Bowen esque leeway on defense, then he's a great defensive player (most would be).

Best of luck. I imagine you'll start to see some of the frustrations we had with him after the season starts. He's pretty athletic, so you'll no doubt see some nice dunks over the course of the season.

Exactly what character issues are you talking about?

Is it the fact that Kmart sits on 3 different boards of charities located in Colorado, and is a national spokesman for children with speech problems?

Melo being one of the top 30 charitable celebrities in the country?

Billups who has charities in both Denver and Detroit, and have several city leaders in Detroit upset when he was traded to Denver, because of his effect on the community?

Jr Smith who runs a youth charity in New Jersey during the offseason?

Andersen who speaks to kids and adults about the drawbacks of Drugs and helps addicts make it through their rehab?

You mean those horrible character issues? I wish Denver would run them bastards off for that, I would rather my team have to blow themselves up after numerous guns incidences, fights with fans in the stands, and everything else that seems to happen in Indiana.

Now before you even mention some of the things that the Nuggets have done, we can jsut go over them now.

Melo appeared briefly in a video with some of his buddies that he grew up with, when he was 19 years old. He had no idea what the video was about or how they were planning to use it. He got into a fight defending a teammate that was attacked by several of he opposing teams players, and he got a DUI. Damn the horror, the guy should be locked up.

JR Smith ran a stop sign accidentally killing one of his best friends, while certainly a horrible accident, it is not like he attacked and tried to injure anybody. Also defended himself in a fight in MSG after the knicks purposely tried to injure him through a dirty play, and then attacked him.

Kmart? Damn I do not remember anything actually bad the guy has ever done.

Billups was accused of Rape a long time ago, yet charges were never pursued.

Andersen developed a drug problem, and like a man went through rehab and has been clean for 3 years, while never trying to blame anybody else or hide from the problem.

If every team in sports only had the horrible people the Nuggets do on their team, the world would be much better off.

Please do not feed the trolls on either side.

Back to the topic.

I'd have rather had Matt Barnes than Dahntay Jones.

I'm just dropping the issue because it's pointless.

Welcome to Indy Dahntay.

The Pacers can afford to have a wildcard like Dahntay Jones. We don't need a team of 15 milk drinkers. Yes, we should be cautious about who we add to the roster, but he isn't a headcase at all from what I've seen. He works hard and plays the game with passion. Maybe sometimes his play flirts on dirty, but the Pacers haven't really had a tenacious defender since Artest left, and it's showed in our perimeter defense. Now, if we got 4-5 loose cannons, I'd be worried, but Dahntay was sorely needed.

As for the visiting Nugget fans, welcome to the board. Be civil though. We're entitled to our opinions. You're entitled to yours.

His other tweets make me feel a little better, but pacer fans definitely have the right to be very cautious. As our locker room stands now it's full of class players and that's what we like in our franchise.

That being said, it'll be hard for Jones to match Jack's late game poor decision making skills/turnovers.

Welcome to the board PacersDG. I didn't notice the OP much, the Scoot's big ass was hogging all the attention. I'm definitely looking forward to your contributions. You seem like you have your head on straighter than some of us around here.

I just want to comment on the buffoon who said this (and other crap of this ilk):

Jr Smith who runs a youth charity in New Jersey during the offseason?

Dude, EVERY SINGLE NBA PLAYER does that stuff. Every single one. They have to. "NBA Cares" ring a bell?

I was gonna say something similar but had to go back and just delete my entire post out of fear of being booted from the site for obscenities. That guy's entire post made my head want to explode. Like how naive can a person be?

Thanks Miller4ever...i've been lurking for some time :P .

This board is great compared to the other ones I occasionally read. For the most part everyone is polite and by far more aware and intelligent about the pacers than any other. You guys really do know your stuff so I hope I can contribute a little :D .

Cheers

Welcome. We could always use more Pacer fans here, so stick around.
