No. We also have a thread for these ideas, and a trade checker so you can see if salaries work, etc.

Al Jefferson suffered a larger injury this last season, and he doesn't have defense. Meanwhile, Granger is the face of the franchise here. He's a more complete player, and I think most people would say that he is more valuable. He was also an all-star last year.

Pretty much this. In recent years Danny has been an incredibly good face for this franchise and has improved his game dramatically. Jefferson is a good player, but wouldn't fit the current mould of this team and their values are quite different currently.

Personality
Loyalty
He's a hard worker
Plays defense
Can play 3 different positions if needed
Isn't undersized at his position (Jefferson is)

Not sure about that. He's primarily a PF stuck playing Center. But that's still irrelevant.

Al Jefferson- 6-10 265lbs
Tim Duncan- 6-11 260lbs
Dwight Howard- 6-11 265lbs
Al Horford 6-10 245lbs

Agree!

Besides, Granger is a base year contract player this season. It's nearly impossible to trade him and get equal value of contracts and players in return.

Nope. Jefferson is a pretty darn good young frontcourt player...but I like what I've seen from Danny as a leader of a team.

It doesn't necessarily mean that he's so much better than Jefferson, it simply means that we don't think we gain anything by swapping Danny for Jefferson.

Next summer we still have Murphy, Hansbrough, McRoberts, Solomon Jones, Hibbert, and Foster, and we would have Dunleavy, Rush, and Dahntay Jones at the swing positions.

I wouldn't trade Granger for Jefferson next summer, last summer, 2 summers from now, the summer of 69, or any other summer for that matter.

Haven't watched Jefferson much. My understanding of his strengths, great post up game, good offensive player. Weaknesses, bad defender. Plug him into the Pacers lineup and he and Murphy would have to be on the floor together alot. That's a really defensive challenged front court and its hard to see how you could ever be very competitive that way.

Granger is potentially an above average two way player and much of what the Pacers have done personnel wise over the last year or so is geared to Granger being the main foundation piece of the team. A trade like this would negate much of what has been done.

I love Jefferson - I think if he stays healthy he can be a special player, especially on the offensive end. he is one of the best low-post NBA scorers, although his defense leaves something to be desired.

all that being said... I would not even consider trading him for Granger. He is the leader of our franchise, and I really believe if he stays healthy/steps up his D, and then we make the playoffs, he will enter top 10 player in the NBA category...

More of the same here, no disrespect to Jefferson but Danny Granger is in a tier above him IMO, largely due to the fact Jefferson has a hard time staying healthy these days and Dannys leadership quality.

if we trade Granger for Jefferson we're going to be pretty weak at the swingmen positions.
