Why would the Pacers extend OB for another season?

so he won't be a lame duck all year. too much danger of the players tuning him out if they think he won't be back after this year.

Because we can't look to a different coach before we make our title run moves, as we won't know what the team will look like. Best give him an extra year since he already knows the players and the current system.
