Starting Lineups

Gilbert Arenas is a challenge, because with TJ's offensive game not a threat this season, he can focus more on offense, where he's reliably 25+ points per game. TJ Ford needs to put the speed on to force Gilbert to guard him, because TJ had quite possibly the best game of his season against Arenas.

Image - Image
Youngster Nick Young will most likely be guarded by TJ Ford while Gilbert is covered by Dahntay Jones. Dahntay wasn't an offensive factor against the Nets, but his energy will be called upon in this second night of a back-to-back.

Image - Image
Brandon Rush, starting because of Granger's absence, has shot well in the previous two games, but he still needs to prove his consistency and confidence. If he can establish himself as an offensive threat, the Wizards will have trouble covering all of their bases.

Image - Image
Troy Murphy collected a double-double against the Nets, and he will need to continue his solid play and not slip against the Wizards. Lately his three has been falling, so hopefully he will be able to stretch the floor better. Antawn Jamison will be much more difficult to guard than Fabricio Oberto. Without the matchup advantages from last meeting, Murphy will need to step it up.

Image - Image
Birthday boy Hibbert showed up against the Nets, and he'll have to show up again against the Wizards powerful 1-2 punch of Haywood and Blatche. Both centers are shorter but faster and stronger, so Hibbert needs to make them work on defense and use his height to his fullest advantage.

The Key Reserves

The second unit has really been eye-opening in the +/- category this year. Watson has piloted the team well, Dunleavy is easing back into his role and performing well, Foster is back to being Feisty, and Hansbrough is coming off of a career-high with 21 points. These four guys are key because the team is in the second night of a back-to-back away game.

The Coaches

Image

Unfortunately, Jim O'Brien's focus on defense hasn't translated to wins. Of course, it would help if he played the defensive players more often. Flip Saunders has been playing without Mike Miller and Javaris Crittenton, but doesn't have to deal with Danny Granger.

Injury Report

Image

Pacers
Travis Diener: Out (Toe)
Danny Granger: Out (Foot)

Wizards
Javaris Crittenton - Out (Foot)
Mike James - Questionable (Hand)
Mike Miller - Out (Calf)

Final Points

Image

-Clamp down early and keep the defense up for 48 minutes
-Play like a team on offense
-Focus defense on the big 3
-Establish an inside presence early

Nice thread!

And way to go Pacers!!!!!

down 6 with just over a minute...and we battled back.

I thought that Boykin's shot at the shot clock buzzer was the dagger, but our team fought through it. Thanks for the call refs!

Who's that last girl?

she will undoubtedly make an appearance in my future threads.

I noticed thatwhen INdy loses there are 20+ posts in GDT's. And now that we've won 2 in a row we have no activity..=/. that sucks

It's actually because of Friday and Saturday night. I'm heading into Finals week with lots of work to do, so I'm able to be here. Other dudes...out partying.

what a game. i wish i had attended like i usually do. last time i was there caron hit that game-winner at the buzzer so it would have been nice to have been there for this incredible finish.

anyway, solid games all around. i think this is how it's gonna have to be without danny. we're going to need to play as a cohesive unit and everyone needs to do their part for us to have a chance. watson was great off the bench with 10 ast and at this point i'm really about done with tj. i don't understand why we don't see more of price but o'brien is stubborn like that. i guess he's just hoping one of these days tj wakes up and has a good day. hansbrough with another solid outing. it looks like he's really getting in a rhythm now and getting comfortable. we're gonna need that against orlando. murphy and dunleavy basically carried us when all else failed. dunleavy especially was en fuego. i'm looking forward to when we won't have to worry about a minute limit.

good win, we really needed it. looking forward to hibbert vs dwight

How good was Gilbert's face at the end of the game? Looked like he was about to start balling.

Nice win for the Pacers the Wiz have a lot of talent with Jamison, Butler, and Gilbert but we beat them without our best player. Big games for Tyler, Murphy and Dunleavy.

I was wondering what is the deal with Conan?

Things I become more and more convinced of the more I see of this team:

1. Hansborough is the real deal. Barring injury, he's our PF of the future.

2. Dunleavy is just the veteran leader we need to help develop this bunch of young guys. He can even teach Danny more than a few things.

3. Hibbert will have ups and downs, but he needs to be in the lineup regardless of the downs, because I believe he's going to be a good one for a lot of years.

4. Ditto Rush, with a caveat; Starter or bust, the only way we'll find out is by playing him.

5. Ford has regressed so much...he's a shadow of the player I remember watching in Toronto the times I saw them play

6. I like Murphy, but he's the bait we need to get a top-notch PG either by letting him espire for the cap space or a high pick in the lottery, if Price doesn't pan out.

7. Obie still needs to go

You're pretty much dead on.

I've just got my fingers crossed that Tyler keeps it up. I was certainly doubting him earlier, but I'm glad he's been proving me wrong.

The fact that you have to ask... :P

It's a part of tradition from last season. I personally like to keep it going, because I am a fan.
