OT: TJ Ford among worst contracts in the NBA

PG: T.J. Ford (Indiana Pacers), $8.5 million: Indiana's decision to keep Ford while letting Jarrett Jack walk as a free agent isn't looking too hot now, is it? While Jack has been the equal of starter Jose Calderon in Toronto, Ford has been demoted from starter to third string by Pacers coach Jim O'Brien, who clearly had tired of watching his offense sputter under the guidance of a veteran floor leader averaging 3.7 assists and 1.9 turnovers. Those numbers don't help boost your playing time when you are 1-of-28 on three-point attempts.

ford needs to get traded.. in toronto he was growing as a good player.. then after atlanta screwed over this team and he regressed.. then everything changed in toronto so he had to get traded.

Can someone just convince him to pack heat into conseco so we can void his contract.

Arenas should be on there instead.

Indiana didn't decide to keep Ford and just let Jack go. We've been trying to trade him and no one has been interested. We couldn't afford Jack with the way Colangelo brilliantly front-loaded that contract. But I bet if you had asked the organization who they would rather have in the summer, they would have picked Jarrett. They just couldn't financially.

I'd still send him back to the Raps for Banks and Evans. Then trade Murphy to the Cavs for Z. and a pick and cash.

Yeah we ddn't have much choice in letting Jack go. I know the Raps are looking to move out Jose Calderon but I don't want that contract either!

Wait.. So, Jose and TJ didn't work in Toronto, but Jose, TJ and Jack might work? :D

It is not a bad contract. He just does not fit into Jim O'brien's system. How's O'brien working out by the way. He is a **** moron.

^Well he's helping Hibbert, Hansbrough and Price along rather nicely and for that I'm very greatful.
And considering TJ doesn't fit here at all, he may as well be one of the worst contracts in the NBA, as he's pretty much been useless for us.

The reason he has been useless is because O'brien does not know how to utilize his talent.

How about Sam Mitchell? Was he not utilizing his talent as well?

And Terry Stotts? Was he mis-utilizing his talent as well?

There seems to be one commonality more than anything else. Ever since the initial spinal injury, TJ Ford has not been the same player he once was, or could have been. Ever since the second back injury from Al Horford's clothes line, he's been even less so. I'm not so sure it's coaching as much as just Ford either playing scared, or not having the quickness he once had.

O'Brien can be blamed for a lot of things. But being the root of TJ's problems isn't one of them. Ford's game appears to be regressing at a remarkable rate. You have to think he has lost a step, a bunch of confidence and his shot.

There's a reason why offers on the trade board that involve TJ seem to always have us taking back Caldaron, Udrich, Baron Davis, Arenas, or Brand. TJ can be moved for a longer contract owed to a player who is not playing to expectations. Of all the contracts expiring in 2011 TJ's may be the worst.

Tell that to the M.I.P in Granger, or the increase in talent seen in Hibbert.

I think he's done fairly well with what he has.
