Troy Murphy (Proposal Plan B Agreed?)
ESPN's Marc Stein reported each team's offer, Cleveland: Cleveland offered Zydrunas Ilgauskas straight up for Troy Murphy. Cleveland will only do this trade if they know Ilgauskas will get a buy out so he can return. Milwaukee: Milwaukee offered Hakim Warrick, Kurt Thomas and Dan Gadzuric for Troy Murphy. This trade is on hold because Indiana doesn't want Gadzuric's contract on the books. Sacramento: Sacramento offered Jason Thompson and Kenny Thomas for Troy Murphy. Indiana likes this deal the best but is holding out for a better deal.
Thought u guys might wanted to read this. I would do the Sacramento deal in a hertbeat.

Love that Kings deal as well. Jason Thompson i think is a much better player right now then Hickson and also i think he has a bigger upside. I just don't see why Sac would do that trade?
But, where did Stein say this? This quote you posted was posted in the comments section.

Yeah, I think the Sacramento deal would be a no brainer for us. However, would Sacramento really offer a productive young big man for Murphy? If so, PLEASE TAKE IT!!!

OH MY GOD!! We need to do the Sacramento trade like RIGHT NOW!! Hibbert, Thompson, Granger, Rush would be one of the most promising young lineups in the league, minus the PG spot (which we can fill in the draft).

It would be heartening if offers like that were available. I can't find anything from Marc Stein (or on ESPN) saying those deals are out there. Fingers crossed.

Re: Troy Murphy
I found this from the Sacramento Bee-
http://www.sacbee.com/static/weblogs/sp ... ter-c.html
So, according to this reporter, the deal would be Murphy for Thomas, Udrih and Greene.
As a Syracuse fan, trust me when I say we do NOT want Donte Greene. The guy is selfish and a horrid shooter.
TROY MURPHY A KING? POSSIBLY
As of my last trade blog post, I hadn't been told that the notion of Indiana-forward-Troy Murphy-to-the-Kings was legit. That has changed, however, as sources close to the Pacers say there is significant Kings interest in the 29-year-old forward.
And while I had alluded to a possible three-team deal sending Kevin Martin to Dallas, Josh Howard and his $10.8 million expiring contract to Indiana and Murphy to Sacramento, I've been told that the Kings are pursuing a straight up deal centered around the expiring contract of Kenny Thomas ($8.5 million).
The Pacers reportedly want to shed themselves of Murphy's salary, and Thomas would almost do it on his own. He makes $11 million this season and nearly $12 million next season (the final one on his deal). Indiana would surely push to include at least one of the Kings' young prospects (Donte' Greene?) but the Kings may ask that they take on point guard Beno Udrih and his contract that runs through 2013 (player option in final season) and has a combined $21.7 million remaining after this season.
If the Kings could get Murphy without giving up Martin, they would obviously push their payroll to a much higher number but would have a chance to look at that mix for a while. If it doesn't work, you still having the ability to make big changes in the summer. Intriguing idea, to be sure.

Re: Troy Murphy
I blazed through a couple of recent ESPN "NBA Today" podcasts and didn't hear anything like this. It's probably BS. If that deal is out there we should just take it and kickstart our rebuilding. I don't understand the Kings, or Milwaukee or that matter, as a Murphy destination. Those teams are going nowhere this season so why bother. Maybe Milwaukee thinks they can squeeze in a playoff push? I don't know.

My thought's exactly. Why are the Kings and Bucks after Murphy? Bukcs may squeeze into the playoffs so maybe a little help there but Murphy won't help them make a long run.
Kings want to shed salary now and rebuild so how does Murphy help with that?
Still if we can get a draft pick or a young prospect I'm all for it.
Jason Thompson would be a great deal. The guy averages almost the same numbers as Murphy currently and has way more upside.

Re: Troy Murphy
Here are two possible deals that I tried,
Pacer send Murphy, Ford and Diener to the Kings for Kenny Thomas, Nocioni and Udrih, plus a protected #1 pick and $3 miilion in cash.
We buy out Kenny Thomas with the cash Nocioni's contract declines the next two season with the final season being a Team Option. Udrih is paid less than TJ but has 3 yrs remaining after this one. We get paid a #1 pick to take Udrih.
2nd deal is KT, Hilton Armstrong, and Nocioni or Udrih, and a #1 protected plus the $3 million, for Murphy and Ford.
I'd think that if they would take Ford they would have to require we take on Udrih, I'd rather have Nocioni than Udrih in the deal so I'd shoot that at them first. We get $12 million in savings next year and a #1 pick and Hilton Armstong to take on Udrih. I'm thinking I'd do that.

Or what does anyone think of this.
KT, Udrih and Thompson for Ford and Murphy.

I still don't think the Kings trade Thompson, let alone want Ford's salary to come back in return....

I think he's a beast to be honest. Very athletic. Good shot. Strong down low. I think he has a lot to work on but which young player doesn't? I think he's going to be a very good PF for years to come and be an nba all-star down the road. You disagree? If so, why....?
I have only seen him limited amount of times, i will admit. I know he started very good and has struggled as of late.

If they can get rid of Udrih's contract, I think Ford's contract is okay for them. They are maybe looking forward to land Marc Gasol in 2011 summer.

Re: Troy Murphy
I would be surprised if the Bucks increased their offer of Thomas, Warrick, and Gadzuric. This would give you 3 frontcourt players who can actually play. Two of them are expiring contracts, Gadzuric has 1 yr left at $7 mil. Bucks could offer all expiring contracts, but doing so would put them into the luxury tax next year. The reason Murphy is being shopped is to reduce next year's payroll so that it is not over the luxury tax next year. The $5 mil in savings would allow the Pacers to sign their draft picks next year without being over the tax next year. Other than your young guys on rookie contracts, who else on your roster could be traded for expirings? Foster could have before his surgery. Ford, no. Dunleavy, maybe. D. Jones, no. Murphy is the only one that can bring in expirings is Murphy.
Trade S. Jackson soon. NJ seems like a nice place for him.
